What actually happens? The end of the human race or just a thinning of the herd for a while until humans develop a natural immunity over time?

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

No they wouldn't. A few people with sniffles would call in sick and come back a few days later. In the topic's premise, covid is ignored. Nothing would shut down because people wouldn't quarantine for close contacts and would probably miss only ~2 days of work.

I have friends in rural areas. They learned way before covid they're on their own for health emergencies because the closest ambulance will take 20 minutes or longer to show up.

Hospitals would be devastated for starters. Pray nothing bad happens to you, because there are no ICU beds.

There's probably also a shortage of nurses, etc, because they left over the conditions. Not to mention the stress of constantly having patients on them(Because no one is taking any Covid precautions, no one in this scenario is vaccinated).

Jobs are lost due to a lot of the working class being dead and not being replaced.

But rich people are mostly unaffected.

Probably see millions more preventable deaths and lifelong health complications due to the virus. The virus would likely mutate faster, with some variants being strong enough to kill faster or beat out "natural" immunity even in previously exposed people.

We would probably see waves of people calling in sick as we fluctuate in and out of these spikes and mutations, leading to complications in industry and supply chain much worse than we currently have.

Hospitals would be overflowing even more with ER patients and we would have to prioritize some peoples' lives and health over others'.

Since conservatives have already made it their mission statement to ignore COVID entirely, we're already seeing most of these things happen at a smaller scale that's just barely holding on because of the sensible part of the population actually doing things to combat the spread and socioeconomic effects of the virus. However those measures are constantly being challenged and scaled back because of these people, and things are now getting worse.

Wouldn't be surprised if most covid-related deaths were from hospitals being too packed to take care of people with treatable issues that weren't covid.

People are only down for 2 days because they're vaccinated. Unvaccinated cases put you out for 1-2 weeks, if they're mild. Numbers like .1% or even 1% mortality sound ok, but that means 1 in 1000 people aged 20-45, 1 in 50 people aged 46-54 (peak earning years), and up to 1 in 4 people on the older end will die. That's a massive amount that is already effecting our economy with covid preventions and vaccines in place.
Covid is not the sniffles.

I would have assumed in this case that no one would be hospitalized solely for covid either. after all, it's being completely ignored. which I guess would actually result in hospitals having more free space, not less (unless significant amounts of the staff become too sick to work, which is also a possibility)

They would be hospitalized because they're dying(of Covid). Plenty of people ignored it ended up in the ER.

Cause funny thing, most people who think Covid is a hoax suddenly want doctors to save them when their horse paste and their ancient herbal remedies don't work.

yeah my take on this was that they would just die at home. if covid is truly being ignored then people wouldn't be getting any sort of hospital treatment for it either

I don't think it really matters much which way you interpret the topic concept though since it would suck pretty bad either way
