Rodent: Zigzagoon > Bidoof >> Sentret
Evolved rodent: Furret >> Raticate > Linoone
Bird: Starly > Pidgey > Hoothoot
Middle bird: Pidgeotto > Fletchinder > Corvisquire
Fully evolved bird: Corviknight > Staraptor > Talonflame
Larval bug: Caterpie > Venipede > Sewaddle

The gen 5 duo did well but Caterpie took the win in the larval poll, giving gen 1 a second overall victory.

Today the pupae take centre stage. Middle evo pokemon rarely get attention and that goes double for these folks, despite them often being the first evolution players will witness. Most of them aren't around for very long and cocoons aren't usually the most complex designs. But which do you like best?

Whirlipede > Charjabug >>> The rest

Charjabug > Dottler > Swadloon > Whirlipede > Metapod > Kakuna > Spewpa > Silcoon = Cascoon

Battery bus is cool. I wasn't sold on Dottler until I saw its animation with the lights, but that is also cool.

Whirlipede > Charjabug = Spewpa > Dottler > Swadloon > boring cocoons zzzzz

Swadloon >> Kakuna > Metapod > Cascoon > Silcoon > Spewpa > Dottler > Whirlipede > Charjabug

Why Kakuna through Silcoon over Spewpa through Charja? Because boring designs beat ones I actively dislike.

I like the early middle evolutions because they don't resemble their first and final forms. That's a real pupa

Swadloon > Whirlipede > Spewpa > everything else. Gen 5 bugs were great

Swadloon > Charjabug > Whirlipede > Dottler > Kakuna > Spewpa > Metapod >>> Cascoon > Silcoon

Not really enamored with any of these. Kakuna is the best I guess.

Kinda surprised by the Swadloon love.

Swadloon is the one I can most closely relate to. Its expression is also very cute.

Shout out to Whirlipede, Charjabug, and Kakuna.

Swadloon is really cool. Metapod has the harden battle going for if, but I absolutely love Dottler.

swadloon may just be a redo of snorunt effectively but still top tier

i didn't even know the sewaddle line existed until now, but i think it's hilarious that it's themed around a swaddled baby evolving into a nanny

Charjabug easy

I love Kakuna, but Charjabug is best.

Charjabug > Swadloon > Whirlipede > Dottler >>>>> Metapod >> Kakuna >> Cascoon (I had a shiny one okay) > Spewpa > Silcoon

All the older ones kinda suck tbh. Kakuna and Metapod are okay but bland and Cascoon/Silcoon are some of the most boring designs ever. Spewpa is just hideous like most of gen 6, but Whirlipede, Dottler and Swadloon are all cute and memorable, and Charjabug is a really nice concept done well.

...In my defence I haven't played gen 5, but it never occurred to me this was the progression of that line >_>. That is pretty funny, especially as its counterpart line is 'cool centipede'.

Cascoon's saving grace is that it isn't Silcoon. That'll keep it off the bottom of the pile in any ranking. Charjabug is my winner though, its whole line is designed so well! Apologies to Metapod who has my nostalgia but I've gotta be realistic here.

I've never seen the gen 8 one, but it looks like a D 20 so I got to vote for it.
