I wonder why they released Ghostbusters Afterlife in November.

October would have been ideal for the Halloween season. December would have allowed them to advertise them as "Ghosts of Christmas."

I'm guessing they were hoping for no competition, a November dead slot, but it just seemed like a marketing misfire.

Part of Scream's whole schtick is kind of making fun of those slasher horror movies. So they don't want to compete with the horror movies that release in October, because they want you to watch them - that's what Scream is making fun of.

Also, January is usually a dumping ground for movies the studio doesn't have much faith in, so maybe they just didn't think the new Scream was any good.

A lot of horror movies dont release in October, this isnt new. What pisses me off is classics like Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street are streamed for free for a good portion of the year but September/October hits and they become PPVs.
