Today it's the early bugs. Now I couldn't fit all of them on here so I decided to stick to the 3-stage lines as they all follow the same larvae -> cocoon -> adult trend, they all evolve very early and are overall more easily comparable as an archetype. Apologies to Ledyba/Spinarak/Kricketot fans, I might do another poll for the 2-lines if there's demand. But today is for the tiny lil useless shuffle bugs!

I went back and forward a bit. Caterpie is really cute in that one episode in the anime, Venipede is badass, Grubbin is really cool too. Decided to settle with Venipede.

When I first saw a leaked screenshot of Blipbug (from the 4chan leaker?) I thought that the image had been compressed horizontally and I was confused on why no one else was commenting on it.

I had to go with Caterpie, but Venipedes probably the highlight of the post-Gen 1 options

No strong opinions on these early stages, but my final stage pick probably won't be popular. Oh well

One of the cool things about watching the backlash from gen 5's initial release slowly settle over the last few years is seeing the Scolipede line become universally appreciated by fans

All of these are pretty good except Blipbug which should be launched into the sun. Scatterbug and Wurmple also kinda suck but Wurmple was my first shiny so I give it a pass.

Also if you're going to do the two-stages, I guess you could throw in Surskit, Nincada, Cutiefly, and maybe Sizzlipede. They're all early and found before the first gym/trial in their games. Sizzlipede is questionable though since the first gym in Sword/Shield is pretty late compared to previous games.

I like Grubbin quite a bit, but I gotta give it to the OG Caterpie on this one.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll have a think. Might not do a two-stage one at all, or I might do it with these options (was also thinking of Burmy and Combee).

As for today, Caterpie has a lot of nostalgia for me but I've gotta give it to Grubbin. Just look at it! Gen 7 is so good with bug types, second only to gen 5 if any!

I can't really give it to caterpie when he's just a less interesting swallowtail caterpillar. He even has the stink horns!

Is Blipbug really that much weirder than Scatterbug though?

Anyway, my vote is for Venipede. Just interesting and cool enough as a first form bug.

i know it's a very hazy and wrong classification but i feel surskit fits best in a spider poll these days due to its association with dewpider (also sure it's "early game" but also "basically impossible to find naturally" in rse). spinarak, joltik are givens but there's also room to fit stuff like maybe skorupi or sizzlipede, and maybe also nincada or even paras

or those extras can fit in a second runoff with the bees and ledyba/burmy/kriketot/snom i hate that i'm suggesting this but there's too many to fit otherwise so welp

also i wish every later gen early bug besides scatterbug wasn't so darn strong compared to the classics and and also so late to evolve now...

anyway tough call between these besides blipbug and venipede which i don't particularly care for, i guess my answer is wurmple though. quite a few of the ones in theoretical later polls are in my top 50 or so mons so that'll be even harder

Tbh I wasn't even planning on making this a series, I just made the rodent poll and then figured I should do the evolutions and then thought about early birds and bugs! We'll see how it goes.

Also I am happy that this topic is how several of you have been exposed to the existence of Blipbug

Considering *only* the larval stage and none of the evolutionary stages, I'll say Sewaddle.
