15 y/o Teddy Balkind, a Connecticut High School Hockey Player was killed after his THROAT was SLIT by a fellow hockey player's skate in a tragic accident during a game between 2 private schools!!

The 10th grader died in hospital shortly after the incident during a 5pm game.

The student at a private school at St Luke's was playing against Brunswick School when he fell last night and as he laid on the rink, another player SPED towards him and collided with him. That player's skate slashed his neck according to police

The freak accident sent the community into morning as the family has not commented on his death

An email was sent from the school to parents stating "Our community is mourning. Yesterday, we lost a precious young man in a tragic accident. Both St Luke's School and Brunswick School are in shock as we work to support our students and families".

The school which was due to only operate as remote was closed.

Police confirmed that a player fell on the ice and another player on the opposing team was rushing towards him and collided with him where his skates slashed Balkind's throat.

The school he attended was a private co-ed school on a wealthy suburb

Sure. But says ice hockey in the question. And mentions ice. And skates (specifically ones that can cut throats). You can pretend like you don't know what he's saying, but it was pretty obvious. You're just being a jerk for no reason... It was obvious he was talking about ice hockey no matter how you look at it...

By and large, any time a North American refers to "Hockey" without specifying what sort of terrain it's being played on, you can safely assume they're talking about ice hockey. If they're talking about any other version, they'll specify "floor hockey," "field hockey," "roller hockey," or whatever else is appropriate, unless the context makes it very clear which one is being discussed.

That, and absolutely nothing about it is confusing because the topic title talks about somebody's throat being slit by a skate. That should be enough context for you to figure out that it's ice hockey without needing somebody to spell it out for you.

tbh, CT only ever seems to make the news for somebody dying, even though we have some of the worst politicians in the country =x

There is no just "hockey." There are multiple versions of hockey, each with a prefacing word, although when somebody says "hockey" it's assumed to mean ice hockey since it's the most popular version throughout much of the world.

There's no distinct sport just called "hockey" and I'm not sure most of the other versions of hockey are even seen as sports.

When I googled it, this is what was said: In most of the world, the term hockey by itself refers to field hockey, while in Canada, the United States, Russia and most of Eastern and Northern Europe, the term usually refers to ice hockey.

I assume that is what he was talking about. That said, it doesn't really matter since Ducky specifically said ice hockey at least once, mentioned ice, talked about a skate sharp enough to slit a throat, and basically made it so it was very clear ice hockey was the hockey being talked about. After mentioning ice hockey once, it was clear. He wouldn't need to mention it every time. Idk why Nichtcrawler_X would expect him to have to say it every time. And even before coming into the topic, chances are it was Ice Hockey...
