New season, new week, same old metallic mayhem!

The main event this week is last year's runner-up Whiplash taking on the brutal Bloodsport, plus we have more returning veterans including Yeti coming back after a year off, a pair of promising rookies in Defender and Blip, and a pair of lovable meme bots in Ribbot and Rusty.

As usual, please put any discussion of match results under spoiler tags until 24 hours after the episode airs out of consideration for people who can't watch the episode live, especially if you decide to watch the episode early on Discovery+ before it airs on TV. Showtime for us TV viewers is at 8PM EST tonight on Discovery Channel (about 20 minutes from this post) and stay on the lookout for the Subzero vs. Shatter bonus fight on the BattleBots Youtube channel this coming Sunday.

Something tells me Whiplash is going to waste Bloodsport. Whiplash is so much tankier than most people would think, given how fast it is.

IT'S ROBOT FIGHTIN' TIME! Yeti vs. Mad Catter leads us off in a battle of beastly spinners.

That was an absolutely brutal beatdown by Mad Catter. Yeti's return to the BattleBox ends with it losing its weapon, its wheel, and its ass.

Two more fights, two more lethal jokebots proving why they're not to be underestimated. Also, Ribbot waving goodbye with its self-righter was hilarious.

I guess no one else was watching live tonight? Main event is starting soon.

I was watching on Discovery+ with my GF and a couple of friends, but got dang those were some brutal matches. Mad Catter is no joke.

Blip has extreme potential if it can get under the higher-tier bots (poor Rusty)

I think Whiplash has a very, very strong chance of winning it all this year. Like, I would consider betting money on it.

Agreed on both, especially Blip. It's nice to have a really good flipper bot to cheer for that's not Hydra.

I did not see this thread. I had checked earlier in the say too.

The Madcatter fight was absolutely brutal. I thought it would win but not to that degree. Same with the Rotator fight. Blip has potential but I do want to see it fight more dangerous robots. It is interesting to see a flipper bot that is very mobile. Whiplash is still the greatest control bot in the competition.

So the big thing about this year's score card is that they don't have to reward all points in a category. So like if two bots fight and one bot had no damage and the other bot had some minor nicks and scrapes, it isn't like one bot gets a bunch of points. They might only give a single damage point total.

So while Bloodsport probably did win damage that doesn't mean he actually would get anywhere near the full 5 points. And frankly given how it was mostly just some wedge nicks, probably shouldn't.

God, Matt Vasquez is so amazing. Good for him.

Also, Kraken is such a shitty robot... I feel bad cuz the captain has posted on social media defending it saying "We like having a fun robot!" but like, it's just not really good at doing anything besides causing fights to get stopped so the robots can be pried apart.

Subzero vs Shatter is up.

Shatter looks really scary this season. Subzero has historically been durable bot, but it still has all these issues.

Just watched the bonus fight. A shame that Subzero was having issues and their flipper didn't seem to be working, but Shatter impressed me. Its axe definitely looks stronger (and maybe faster?) than it did the last time we saw it.

By the way, the rules for ablative armor are weird. It really doesn't count as damage until you start ripping it off and compromising its protective abilities.
