Citing unnamed sources familiar with Sonys plans, Bloomberg said the company had planned to stop making the PlayStation 4 at the end of 2021. Instead, it will continue producing about a million units in 2022, to alleviate the strain coming from manufacturing and shipping the PS5.

I'm just going to wait for a slim version to come out tbh, although at this pace I don't expect it before like 2024 lol.

I said before that by the time PS5 supply is actually fixed, it will be time to start previewing the PS6. People said I was being silly, how about now?

PS6 won't be out until at least 2027. Probably 2028

Same. I learned my lesson after my $500 Fat PS3 died: wait a few years, then get the cheaper model with better hardware and more storage space.

As someone who owns a PS5 the silly thing is that there's barely any exclusive games to even justify a PS5 at this point anyway.

Off the top of my head I can't think of any beyond these and Deathloop and FF7R are on PC anyway!

Most people aren't buying a PS5 for exclusives, they're doing it for better performance. Same reason you'd buy a new graphics card for your computer.

Fortnite is the most popular game on every platform.

Bingo. I've actually been holding off on playing my PS4 copy of Doom Eternal because I want to play it on hard mode, die 100s of times, and not have to sit through hours of loading screens.

Returnal and Demons Souls are also headed to PC if you trust the Nvidia leak, which has been proven reliable on a monthly basis since it happened.

More than anything I'd want one to play Lost Judgment at a decent frame rate :(

Some things in Nvidia leak are reliable, but not everything, unless you think Mario vs Rabbids is going to PC.

How about PS4 controllers? I could use another of those.

That leak had a bunch of Nintendo games on PC. I'm not sure you can separate the stuff that is and isn't real.

I assumed the Nintendo listings were part of some weird Geforce Now thing, like how Mario Galaxy is available in China via Nvidia Shield.

That's fair. The loading times are such an improvement on PS5 that I find it hard to play a lot of games on Switch anymore to be honest.

PS5 is an amazing console. But the lack of memory is a real problem. I'm sure it'd be more expensive. But PS5 games are HUGE.

Well, basically it's due to how the PS4 components are easier to procure.

And the Bloomberg article also speculates that Sony has deals with the actual manufacturing plants to produce units and since PS5 is not happening...they told them to make more PS4.

Anyway, as for me, I do find the quicker loading time and better performance intriguing, but for now I can just look elsewhere and entertain myself while waiting. I'll wait until the price drops off significantly.

Yeah, but to be more specific the price becomes nearly twice its retail price here due to the scarcity. So hopefully it won't be as bad eventually.

This is a silly argument because it assumes nobody ever goes back to a game once they've beaten it, or that nobody plays games that you don't actually "beat" and just play whenever. The size of games is getting bigger all the time, so it's becoming more and more of a problem.

Yeah, you want a few games on there, but there's more than enough to have a dozen+ installed at a time, which should be enough for most people, unless you play every FPS with a different crew or something. More space would be nice, but SSD space costs enough that I feel like what we're getting is reasonable.

I think it mainly stands out to me because I like to play stuff like Call of Duty and sports games, which are games you don't really finish, so I can't delete them unless I'm absolutely certain I'm done with them. Those fill the thing up fast, which lead me to just having both Xbox and PS5 and splitting them between the two.

I agree it's reasonable-ish currently for the price, but how long that lasts will be interesting to see, since we're certainly not going down in game sizes.

Makes sense that it's fake. Why would they produce the PS4 for a shorter time than the PS3?

Only reason I can think of that they would consider it is if they could've converted PS4 production into PS5 production, which turns out not to be possible with the shortages.

Remember when Sony threw shade at Microsoft and said we believe in console generations.

I'd much rather they stick to generations rather than having 1 game for all. Kinda unfair to people on the older systems that want the game for cheaper if they have to pay next gen prices.
