Wheatley is a great new character, GlaDOS gets some wonderful character depth, and you get Cave Johnson as a goddamn legend. That's on top of a bunch of fun new mechanics and paints and multiplayer and all sorts of good stuff the game has. It's wonderful all around.) Silent Hill 2 Portal Persona 5: Royal (P5 is ranked as part of P5 Royal. They're too close in content to rank them separately.) Sonic Adventure 2: Battle Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Final Fantasy XIV (While I obviously haven't played to the endgame yet, and I haven't played in a month or two due to a combination of expansion log-in queues, and just needing to beat BDSP, this game is just such a refreshing change of pace from WoW. There is SO much to do, and it all feels fun and relevant. Side quests feel like they either tie into the story, or they have their own story. Crafting is a chore, but it's a chore that feels rewarding. I can't give it full marks because I'm still in ARR though, and the story is rough, to say the least. But we'll see, moving forward.) Detroit: Become Human Super Smash Brothers: Ultimate Batman: Arkham Asylum (I enjoyed this enough, but it's been a while since I played it, and thinking back, it's not especially memorable. The gameplay is certainly fun, and I like having Batman battle his way through Arkham as the inmates take over the asylum. But it's largely kinda there, and I think it's almost hurt by being TOO insular, which leads to a bit of repetitive in an action game.) That's how much of a hold Pokemon has on me. I played DP back in the day as a senior in high school at least, and I guess I just hadn't really gotten into the "catch 'em all" mindset that would highlight the game's flaws in modern day. The Sinnoh Dex is an abomination of far too many Water-types and nowhere near enough Fire/Ice/Dragon/Electric-types. And the pacing is awful; just getting from the second gym to the third takes far too damn long, especially when you consider you could theoretically go out-of-order and hit Pastroia first. But yeah, the overabundance of water in a region that doesn't even have an excuse like Hoenn...it's draining, if I'm being honest.) But honestly, the third games have almost always suffered with me. Whether Crystal, Emerald, Platinum, Black 2/White 2, Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon...by the time they come out, I just don't feel like putting my energy into replaying a game AGAIN, even if there have been a ton of changes and improvements made. But Lord knows Gen IV needed this.) Super Mario 64 (I've played this on the N64 and the 3DS, and it's fine. It's very standard 3D platforming stuff. I think SM64 hurts when compared to Rare's stuff, because SM64 doesn't have a whole ton of personality to it. It's very straight-forward platforming, with a couple boss battles. It's fine. It's perfectly fine. That's all.) GSC feels like a slapdash expansion pack to RBY in the worst possible way. You introduce only 100 new Pokemon, but a bunch of those are just evolutions to old Pokemon (not complaining, since many of those are favorites), and you introduce two new types that barely get any focus during the main game. The end result of this is gym leaders that barely use new Pokemon, and it's just a mess. And the open world aspect post-Whitney completely fucks up the leveling system and gives you a solid chunk of the game where everything is around level 30, before throwing you into the deep end with Clair and the Elite 4. And then the RBY stuff feels like it was just thrown in last minute, because they could. I'll give credit to the story though, since Team Rocket actually feel like bad guys this time around. And ultimately, it's still Pokemon and it still has its hooks in me to this day, so whatever.) Team Fortress 2 (I've played this enough to count it, and I'm just not a fan. I'm not big on team multiplayer stuff, because A. I feel stressed if I'm not contributing enough, or succeeding enough. And B. if my teammates suck, I get extremely pissed off, because that's someone else preventing me from enjoying something. So ultimately, the lack of decent single player (and lack of character variety, if I'm being honest) makes TF2 really hard for me to praise. It's the one dud on the Orange Box, and admittedly, I'm glad it gets lumped in with a bunch of quality content without me having to buy it solo.) GSC feels like a slapdash expansion pack to RBY in the worst possible way. You introduce only 100 new Pokemon, but a bunch of those are just evolutions to old Pokemon (not complaining, since many of those are favorites), and you introduce two new types that barely get any focus during the main game. The end result of this is gym leaders that barely use new Pokemon, and it's just a mess. And the open world aspect post-Whitney completely fucks up the leveling system and gives you a solid chunk of the game where everything is around level 30, before throwing you into the deep end with Clair and the Elite 4. And then the RBY stuff feels like it was just thrown in last minute, because they could. I'll give credit to the story though, since Team Rocket actually feel like bad guys this time around. And ultimately, it's still Pokemon and it still has its hooks in me to this day, so whatever.)Team Fortress 2 (I've played this enough to count it, and I'm just not a fan. I'm not big on team multiplayer stuff, because A. I feel stressed if I'm not contributing enough, or succeeding enough. And B. if my teammates suck, I get extremely pissed off, because that's someone else preventing me from enjoying something. So ultimately, the lack of decent single player (and lack of character variety, if I'm being honest) makes TF2 really hard for me to praise. It's the one dud on the Orange Box, and admittedly, I'm glad it gets lumped in with a bunch of quality content without me having to buy it solo.)
