Won't get my hopes up. Probably just another Dark Souls clone.

While I have nothing against Armored Core, in itself, I have a grievance with Agetec, who used to handle that franchise. Why? Because of their maltreatment of the Wild Arms remake. So hopefully a better company is brought in, should Armored Core be truly revived.

If Armored Core 6 came out, I would like to see it like the first 3 generations. I especially like Master of Arena and 3 & Silent Line. Such an underrated series.

They handled the translation and localization of Wild Arms ACF. In fact, they wanted to provide only literal translations at first, which would have given us the original names for two characters rather than the names English speakers were familiar with. They delayed it multiple times due to a lack of faith in the title, rather than to try actually marketing it, and they killed the voices, choosing instead to add one or two more image galleries (that no one asked for or cared about). So no, they did more than just publish.

I love what theyve done with the souls series but I miss Armored Core, as well.

I've just finished doing a consumer survey about a new Armoured Core game with description, screenshots and two 30 second-ish videos of gameplay - the first a boss fight and the second more in-world gameplay, a snow area. The screenshots are unique ID watermarked, so probably not a good idea to post but I did screenshot the text description.

If this isn't ok to post, mods please edit this - I don't want to get anyone (including myself) in to trouble, but I was pretty amazed to be watching footage of an upcoming From Soft game randomly this morning, quite unexpected!!

I did screenshot them too, but they're ID watermarked so weary about posting them. The video was streaming and watermarked, so couldn't save that even if I wanted to.

The screenshots were not huge and 8 in total.
1. More snowy area, player character in the air firing down on a street with vehicles below (tanks? cars?)
2. A smoke-filled aerial shot with an enemy in the distance.
3. A darker green/grey toned area gunfire and light/fire coming from the combat everywhere.
4. Snowy area again, ground-based combat against a similar sized enemy (pvp?)
5-8: These four looked like boss fight shots:
5. A bigger humanoid mech, white/grey. Player character has red lights on their mech, on ankles, shoulders and lower back.
6. A huge, tall armoured tank boss.
7. Difficult to make out, player on right, enemy another humanoid mech on left a yellow/gold slash(?) effect I think the player is attacking the enemy with a melee attack.
8. Gunfire battle with a circular yellow effect in front of player character - blocking the gunfire with shields or some attack? Shape and colour reminds me of the Heal miracle in Dark Souls, golden circle.

I'd hate to drudge up a bad vibe, or draw another comparison to Wild Arms, but there was a tweet saying, at one point, that WA was making a comeback. However long later, it was nothing more than a gatcha mobile game with none of the gameplay or story we WA fans came to love. I can hope for y'all that Armored Core comes back with an actual new game, but... Be wary. <_<

it's a completely different series made by completely different developers

you're trying to associate one developer with a completely different one that is not related to in any way, because that developer fucked their thing up

the example farq gave was pretty succinct

this is fromsoft. not media vision who make wild arms, or forwardworks who made that mobile game, or Sony who actually own the wildarms ip.
the worst thing from can do to armored core is turn it into armored souls.

No, I'm bringing up what happened in one case, which is a modern trend with multiple companies than just the one in which games are sacrificed their content or joy for heavy monetization. I was bringing up an example of why not to get hopes up until you know for certain a new Armored Core game will be a full-on game. Do not disregard a fair warning just because, "Oh, it's a different company, so it'll be different!"

Yeah it's not so much that you were cautioning us to temper our enthusiasm. It's the way you went about it.

You could've left it vague and said "I'd love a new Armored Core but I'm afraid they'd ruin it trying to modernize the formula." but instead you gave weirdly specific comparisons that don't make sense given the context.

Like, they could turn Armored Core into a f2p gacha, but it's From Software and I doubt that would happen

They could do a lot of things, but you gotta view it in context

A better example would've been what they did with the Tenchu series, turning it into some weird Ninja Bomberman. Use their own development history as a basis for your argument rather than worry about what other developers are doing with completely unrelated franchises

Granted. Then again, my experience with From Software, in particular, is limited so you would be better equipped with such closer-proximity examples than I am.

Whether or not the 7 Remake is awesome is up to the eye of the beholder, for one thing. This, also, is Squeenix among whom the CEO has mentioned he is looking into the NFT nonsense for FFXIV, which would hurt the company's biggest cash cow if they went through with it. It's miraculous, actually, how much we get in XIV and how relative little is in their cash shop. The 7 Remake? Sure they managed to get the first part out without a hitch-- oh wait Intergrade. Who knows, as of yet, how the later parts will turn out?
