... Why doesn't the legislation just say "animal" and leave it at that? I can understand having separate marine and terrestrial legislation, since they tend to involve different conservation measures and different departments, but formally legislating protection for a list of whatever animals the lawmakers at the time could come up with seems a lot less simple than just saying "animal." "Animal" is pretty well-defined, or at least as well-defined as "plant" (which is also there). Could probably take it even further and just say "organism," which means you don't have to quibble over fungi or unicellular stuff, but I don't know how often conservation of non-plant/animal organisms really comes up.

That's funny, I've downloaded that with my friend (who was a girl, btw) and we ended up "verbally abusing" the AI because she was just annoying and boring and it was funny. Talk about purposefully misreading and/or misunderstanding of the intent and the outcome of that trial. They said no less than 4 times with the opinion that you cant just be intoxicated, even extremely so. And that theyre putting the burden on lawmakers to correct how it was worded because the old law effectively made a person have to defend against something they werent charged with.

I'd be ok with this on two exceptions. You still served time but got a special marking on your I'd saying you can't purchase booze. They'd still get it sure but hopefully it would make it hard enough they don't drink as often. Then if they do anything illegal again drunk they get the book thrown at them for it and the original crime.

It's not the first time I've thought about a punishment for drunken crime being barring them from buying alcohol or entering alcohol based establishments. Hell bam them from events that sell booze too. Concerts sporting events etc.

I mean, its already (in the US at least), a thing to not allow people to consume substances. Even legal ones as part of a parole. My wife is still technically barred from consuming alcohol and she doesnt even have a criminal record.

But barring them from places that even serve alcohol is a step beyond, as far as Im concerned. Id be more along the lines of giving them some sort of ID that states theyre unable to purchase. Because that would cut a lot of things from a persons life where they wouldnt even be buying alcohol. Like, I dont think theres a grocery store a person could enter in this area

Kind of a slippery slope argument. Barring people from events simply because there is alcohol is ehhh

Nah you'd have to let them enter grocery stores that's just common sense.

My angle is you can punish people in more ways than sending them to prison for a long time. That's something I learned in prison in fact. You can punish a inmate without writing them up or sending them to seg. I do mean in ways that are within policy

Some would probably prefer it. Like I bust a inmate doing drugs. I can write him up for sure. But I can also take his ID and give him a list of tasks I want him to perform. Scrub the walls clean the bars give the janitor a day off that he still gets paid for. Hebdoesnt do it then he gets the write up. 99% of the time they do what you ask at that point.

Prison here at leastbwhere i work is an adult daycare. Yeah they gotta follow rules and shit but so do kids in school and if they got decent parents at home too. Most have jobs but it ain't required unless they just badly need to fill a position. Which is rare cause they usually want jobs. It helps reduce their sentence and the food is barely tolerable so they wanna be able to buy stuff from the canteen. These motherfuckers know how to make some shit with what they can get thatblooks and smells amazing.

I've only ever had 1 of many ways of making prison Ramen aka swol at my unit. Shits good. Had a friend that spent a few months in the slammer

Really the only punishment is when you get an officer that wants to be petty. And honestly most of us are too lazy to be petty.

First time in 3 years I decided to pull this one petty stunt. What you do for this one is wait for them to be good and asleep. Wake them up tell them to submit to a search. Have them strip searched then tear through their property. Confiscate even the pettiest of contraband. (For me it was a bunch of permanent markers and the bags they use for transfering) leave all their shit on their bed and walk away (we usually are nice enough to put their stuff back) took dude a hour to put all his stuff back. Specially since I took his bags he had most of his stuff in. Had to figure out how to arrange his stuff now half asleep
