What's with these annoying affection messages that pop up every single battle? Is there no way to turn this "feature" off without getting my Pokemon to hate me?

This is the worst new addition in those remakes sadly
I am not fan of the EXP Share either but I can let it slide
But affection feels like cheating

I dunno if you can turn it off, but yeah its a mild annoyance

I don't care too much about it making things easier since the games are so easy already, though extra crits could be obnoxious for catching stuff. The extra time drain is a big deal to me though since I'll typically play a Pokemon game for like 100 hours or something

I find it to be the most ridiculous thing they have ever implemented. It gets worse than just crits, which aren't even too good because of catching things. They'll begin often surviving with 1 hp from things that should have KO'd them, even if they have 1 hp already. They've cure status effects themselves, which can actually also be an issue in some late game teams.

Also, for what's less of a gameplay issue, most things that come up are flot out annoying to hear. They also say that the Pokmon did it for my sake so I wouldn't feel sad or something when I absolutely would not sad, on the contrary this is sad. Or that my Pokmon are worried about doing well being sent out against something it can easily OHKO and outspeed. Or that it's about to cry because it took damage from something it'll then deal way more damage to afterward, makes them feel pathetic. Something is way off.

With that rant over, I found it totally worth it just having my Pokmon not like me.

Pokemon's been going way overboard trying to appeal to children when it already did that just fine as a series, and could still be enjoyable for older players at the same time.

I'm not saying gen 5 and earlier were flawless at all but they were way less heavy-handed about who the target audience was.

Phew, got Palkia with my Pokemon wishing to be praised for murdering a legendary only once

Deciding to play using a lot of herbs also meant I couldn't brainless spend money which is otherwise never a problem in Pokmon at all. Interesting change.
