I love jade empire, dragon age, Kotor etc

I tried dos2 and just hated it honestly. I feel like I missed something or went about it the wrong way

I played til the second act. I saw unrewarding quests, like you turn the flaming pigs back into people and that's... Kinda it. Fetch this, get reward. Help person, get reward. Evil empire is the bad guys. Pompous people with British accents and mysterious sorcerers. It was all so uninspired

And then the powers, like I even looked up the master level spells/abilities and they're just like some plants whacking a guy, or a little fire tornado.

I guess what I'm getting at is I never felt like I was on an adventure. I felt like I was wandering around the starting area of an MMO

Reached some incredibly tedious teleporting spot and quit. Kept planning to go back and finish, but never did.

Game did have some high points for me. I love the characters and the music.

I played through as Fane and had some fun, but it's one of those games that would probably be better on a second playthrough (not unlike FO:NV's Dead Money), as you can better navigate the annoying stretches and just know what to expect. Got ambushed and AoE'd so often, in every chapter/act, I basically save scummed all the way through and used cheesy methods to defeat some bosses. That's really not that enjoyable.

Definitely, it seemed to have no flow for this reason. Very tedious to play

The mechanical complexity is the real selling point. The story and setting are almost purposefully uninspired.

Interesting. Guess I'm just not into those types of games

for me, it's mostly the gameplay - combination of different elements, race specific abilities in and outside of combat, and just how unique it feels from other games in the genre.

I also like how the story relates to the pre-made characters, and how even if you have a particular character in your party, you'll gain more context if they're your main.

the game does have some spikes in difficulty later on, though, that makes it feel unfair at times, but overall, I think it's a really well-made game with a decent main story, which benefits from its characters' perspectives.
