A friend of mine said he got it a little while ago, then his boyfriend ended up getting him some super expensive gaming laptop for Christmas so he said he'd sell it to me for $500.

Is it worth that? I'm seeing it online for like $900 and the general reviews are its solid for a budget gaming laptop. Like I'm not looking to play Cyberpunk 2077 on its highest settings but something for PC gaming that can reasonably play most previous gen games?

Tagging this because that's very similar to one that I've been looking at recently to buy for myself.

Might do research on what resolutions and such a 3050ti can reliably game on but its the weaker of the 3000 series line up, just know that going in.

900ish bucks seems... ok? i dont know, i mean i'm not particularly an advocate for laptop gaming as I feel you get ripped off in terms of overall usability vs a desktop but the price isnt absurd.

I mean on pure specs that's worth the buy and should be able to play "most previous gen games"

I personally would never trust an Acer gaming laptop though. A modestly specced Acer for office applications will practically fall apart with normal use after a few years. I can't imagine a gaming laptop with the higher heat output lasting long, especially if it's used.

(Though I haven't actually had an Acer or seen anyone else's Acer in many years so maybe they're less junky now)

Is this an experience that you had or is this like a known thing?

Acer used to be crap, but this hasn't really been true for awhile, now.

My last laptop was an Acer ROG and fell apart, as well as had non-working components from the beginning that I never got fixed. I'd be hesitant. But at least it's pretty cheap, and maybe the newer one is better. Mine was also not new.

$500 is absolutely worth it for those specs, $900 you could probably do a little better than a 3050 Ti but it's not that bad of a deal either

ROG is Asus, not Acer

My personal experience having owned one, and a few years of experience working in professional laptop repair and getting a lot of junky Acers that are falling apart

I ended up buying mine too. Just went through the setup process and now beginning the tedious process of remembering every little program, addon, and script that I used to have. The keyboard seems really nice so far, that was a major factor for me because I use my laptop for regular daily use so it needed to be comfortable.

I'm glad that someone recommended me to make a Firefox account a couple months ago because it did save me a decent chunk of time with internet stuff at least.
