I definitely won't get all my jobs to 90 or even close before I burn out and unsub for another 5-6 months again.

Will have all my DoH/DoL there soon at least, and I'll probably get 2-4 more combat up there. Have Mch, Pld, Smn/Sch, Sge, and Nin at 90 so far and Rpr 2 levels away.

I plan on finally getting around to Eureka once I finish up crafting and gathering though.

Went to Kugane for the MSQ, found more blue plus quests. One calls over a girl named Alma, and then the first few notes of that song hit. I've played through FFT so many times, and loved it, so I got chills. I am very interested to see where this goes. Or, at the least, for some cool fights!

I will say that it is a bit weird how FF14 does the Ivalice stuff
Like... both FFT and FF12 seem to have just... happened in their entirety at some point in the past, with small differences.

It's a little weird.

I realize they basically did the same thing with Crystal Tower but I feel like it's not as egregious there because FF3's story is like... not as fleshed out as Tactics and 12, so 14 put more of its own spin on it there.

man these balance issues

cleared the first phase of p4s today as dancer, did about 7300 rdps which got me a 91st percentile parse, 3rd out of 32 dancers who have cleared the fight

i was curious so i checked, a bard that did 7300 rdps would be about 150 out of 230 cleared bards, and only have a 35th percentile

i'm feeling sort of self-conscious 'cause i feel i'm griefing, the DPS check is so tight we had to do a flawless run and even then just barely beat it with 6 seconds to spare. idk how much difference it makes but bards are doing about 300 more rdps than dancer on average, so...

i'm trash at bard though so i really couldn't have switched over anyway

hopefully phase 2 goes alright

Weird thing is the discrepancies in WoW usually arent that big(Unless you are like, an enhancement shaman, or something), the communities are just a bit different.

And I'm glad for it, because I mained Elemental, and fucked if it wasn't annoying being dropped from group by parsefiends if I didnt have over a 70 on a fight from lucky Lava Surge procs/intentionally farm it on add fights using instacast Stormkeeper chains.

The bard/machinist/dancer disparity will *probably* even itself out as more attempted clears go through/people figure out more useful melds for themselves/start bringing actually useful consumables.

yeah, this stuff only stands out because the game's balance is otherwise so tight, that even a minor thing like that that puts you like 2% behind another job, stands out as a big deal here.

it's definitely not going to be an issue week 2-3+, but for trying to clear week 1... it's a bit dicey! but it's okay, as long as you have a perfect run with zero deaths you'll still clear even with non-meta comps...

yeah, this was my static's experience as well. we were struggling with adapting to fourfold shackles (this is before anyone realized you can assign spots based on timer, which i assume has become PF standard?) since we were just running around fighting over spots

the first time we had a pull where we survived fourfold shackles, we cleared.

yeah uh that's not really it. anyone doing savage right now (at least, fights 3 and 4) definitely has optimal gear and melds, and you cannot clear the final fight without using top grade potions. there isn't anything to figure out, best gear/melds were solved before the servers even went up.

My static cleared P4S last night. Miscellaneous thoughts about the entire tier, with spoiler tags so I can go into mechanics:

P1S is a fantastic first fight. Most of its mechanics are visually overwhelming and spectacular but very simple to solve, with just a few tricky spots to slow down new players and force them to think like Savage raiders. Very happy with this fight.

P2S feels very unforgiving for a second turn, with a ton of mechanics where one death just spirals into a wipe. The fight's gimmicks are interesting enough for prog purposes, but I'm not terribly looking forward to reclearing this fight every week.

P3S is a goddamn nightmare. So visually the entire arena and most of the effects are all reds and oranges, which gives me a headache after a while. The tankbuster being a pair of tethers the tanks have to pick up is the most infuriating mechanic in the entire tier. The big orb/small orb AoEs feel like they snapshot way earlier than they should. I'm really not looking forward to optimizing melee uptime for the back half of the fight, because so many mechanics seem purpose-built to force you off the boss. I really don't like this fight!

P4S oh thank god it has its own music, the Pandemonium fight music was wearing on me after progging the other three. Anyway this fight is fun! Phase 1 uses the tile and role mechanics from normal mode to great effect and adds in its own new wrinkles in the tether/debuff mechanics. I still don't like tethers much but it's made better by the fact that all four of the people who need it can just run laps inside the boss and eventually they'll all get one. The DPS check is extremely tight week 1, which is as it should be - clearing the door boss takes a perfect run. Phase 2 kind of has E12S phase 2 syndrome, where a lot of the challenge is in figuring out solutions to the mechanics and once the puzzle is solved actually resolving the mechanics isn't particularly difficult. I'm still a big fan of the "put down nails, show what they do, tether to nails in order, resolve explosions" gimmick, however - it reminds me of Fate Calibration from TEA, which is my absolute favorite mechanic of all time. Oddly for a 2 phase fight, the second phase has a DPS check just as strict as the first. In fact, I think the numbers needed to clear the two phases are almost exactly identical, somewhere around 48k raid DPS. The two phases are both full uptime with about the same amount of mechanics forcing melee off the boss, so numerically it makes sense but traditionally when a door boss has a strict DPS requirement the actual boss is a little more forgiving. I guess SE wanted to change up that formula.

Overall I'd call this tier about 7/10. The first and last fights are fantastic, the middle two a bit less so.

Just finished 4.1.

I must say, that was definitely a super cool way to end that patch. The duty fight against Lakshmi was quite fun, as were all the events around it. Fairly impressed!

I hope to at least do Rabanastre tonight, and hopefully some of the other dungeons I've found, because my quest log is all "use the duty finder..." lol.

The bosses you missed's names were Mateus (12), Hashmal (12), and Rofocale (FFT sagittarius lucavi), so if those sound fun they're worth it. The 2nd boss's mechanics in particular end up being reused a number of times over the past few years.

If you do alliance roulette daily you'll eventually run back into it, so it's not a super huge priority. But the raids are pretty fun. Rabanastre is probably the weakest of the 3 SB alliance raids though.

You should have seen a face pop up all over your screen followed by an order. If it was an angelic good face, you have to follow orders; if its a demonic red face, you have to do the opposite. Also, when you get a rotating cursor over your head, you have to begin running when the arrow is pointing where you want to go; you're locked into the direction of the finger. I think you have to run to a safe corner in this wonky way.

I'm still in the middle of Stormblood, but how I progressed most of the Heavensward post-patch content was look to at Consolegames Wiki page for the specific patch that I'm currently on, see what got added for that patch, and do what I can.

Clearly you should do the Hilidibrand quest.

I've mostly held off on the endgame raids, only just started going back to Alexander. So while some of you guys are doing Pandaemonium Savage, I just got done with clearing A5, and only after many wipes.

I would definitely go back and do the whole thing. The Ivalice series are the best alliance raids imo (and unlike with the story I think many would agree with me here!)

Also I wasn't aware that join raid in progress applied even to your first time doing a piece of content... that's lame. Guess I'll continue to never turn it on!
