on the bright side, I did get leatherworker to 90 today. going to try and get blacksmith and goldsmith done this weekend too so I can have full HQ 560 crafter gear by tuesday

Ive only gotten WVR to 90 still. I think LTW is 88?

Mats are still expensive though, and Im cheap even though I have a ton of gil so Im mostly leveling off of turn-ins.

Yeah I did a lot of fate grinding to get the mats for LTW collectibles. At least with BSM itll be mostly mining, which I dont mind doing as I need to get Miner from 82 to 90 anyway.

i grinded out all 90's on like day 4 of the expansion spending about 5m gil to make it faster, then made that back in the next few days of crafting gathering sets

I got CUL to 90. Sometimes I feel like theyre the least lucrative crafting job

culinarian is all about high volume low margins i think, if you go for raid food anyway

i made about 13 million gil this expansion so far.

usually i only have like 4mil max.

i didn't do anything in particular, just played a lot, leveled my crafters to 90 and sold any extra leve stuff i didn't need, sold lots of bicolor gem mats from fates, and just lots of desynth.

i impulsively spent all of it earlier to fully pentameld my crafters, which i already regret considering my raid leader had offered to make everyone's gear anyway on tuesday morning so i really didn't need to do it.

i'm like 3-4 melds on most of my crafters, i'll probably manage to make something happen when savage patch drops

I died at least 4 times in that Shinryu fight lmao. Was a fun battle though!

Pretty solid! Above ARR, but HW was a bit better, imo. Ive heard wonderful things about ShB though, so looking forward to getting to that soon!!

My opinion is each release has been better than the last but the overall opinion seems to be ARR < SB < HW < SHB < EW so you're in for good times from here on out.

Making money just selling crafter and gatherer materia right now. Now I wonder if grade IX for combat jobs will go up on tuesday or not. I have no use for it.

Ton of people are going to be unprepared for the hundreds of materia they need to overmeld their crafted gear on tuesday so I'd say it's very likely.

it's already gone up a ton. i stocked up when it was going for about 4k... i sold a bunch of the same ones today for 14k+ each.

If grade 9 combat stuff does blow up next week Ill be able to make some good money, Ive got a pretty nice stockpile that Im not using

if it's anything like the combat gear itself, it'll blow up tuesday morning, go down by tuesday night, and have plummeted by thursday or friday

Ahh there are the 6 or so blue + quests that pop up immediately after finishing the main part. All I know is I better find Hildebrand somewhere

Got half my crafters to 40 today, felt really dumb when I realized I could've been using the Diadem nodes that didn't have the items I wanted to check for items I'll need at higher levels. I mean, I still haven't checked what I'll need, so maybe they're all on the same ones, but I didn't even think about checking until I was pretty much done with the 20-40 gathering anyway.

I found a quest title that has the word Eureka in it. Am I finally going to experience the thing thats been talked about in here?

Not necessarily. You can just leave! No one can make you do Eureka, if they say otherwise they're lying.

sounds like it. though i'm not sure how much you'll want to dedicate to it right away, it's a pretty big piece of side-content that won't give you any particularly relevant rewards other than relic weapon and other armor for glam

Eureka is really fun!

I have a question that's been bugging me a while that is going to probably be dumb, but what is the benefit to using grade 9 materia over grade 8 at this point?

Grade 9 materia are only useful for overmelding crafted gear. You can't use grade 10 (or 8) materia past the first overmeld slot.

Ah, okay that makes sense. I've never actually bothered to overmeld before.

Yeah for combat materia afaik it's only really worth it if you're trying to get week one savage clears

you can't overmeld on raid gear so yeah, just for week one savage mostly

I sold a bunch of combat X matieria for around 50k a pop last week, Hope I didn't make too much of a mistake compared to Tuesday morning prices.

Blue Mage to 70.

Now to take start looking into getting these abilities.

Working the level 50 stuff and Sharpened Knife is already making me act up with these failure to learns.

just got stuck in the worst LotA group I've ever had

multiple wipes, healers weren't healing, tanks were not tanking the correct enemies, no one was stepping on the pads

this is my punishment for forcing CT raids in alliance roulette

LotA is annoying in general, and not just because of newbies.

Vets will never understand that you simple are NOT going to get enough people to greed at the end to skip the second barrier, and are going to cause a wipe because they wanted to save 15 seconds.

You can take the 90% guarantee of an extra 3 minutes on the raid if you want, completely contradicting the entire reason you're trying to greed in the first place.

It isn't as black and white as always running to the pad or always trying to finish him off before he casts, it's about judging the players you're with based off of their damage and general competency based off of the raid up until now. About whether they're capable of skipping the second Ancient Flare cast. As much that as how low his health happens to be when he begins casting.

But yes, if you are the kind of person who would still run to the pad as he begins casting at 5% hp then you are a shameless coward and you have no honour.

I'll take the 5%, that's a done deal. It means you know your raid can handle it. Just like the opposite at 15%, where you know it can't.

But if it's at 10% and you decide to keep at it, I'm blaming you for the gamble, not the people who backed away. The cowards are the ones respecting the mechanics, and thus they have my respect.

That's not at all why I try to get people to greed, though!

I do it because its funny and sowing discord is the only enjoyment I get out of LOTA after 8 years. In fact if anything its funnier if they wipe.

Greeding that second cast is extremely easy if half the raid isn't afk

Like, I had a pretty bad 30 minute run of Labyrinth yesterday, with a bunch of newbies who weren't sure how it worked. We wiped THREE times on Atomoses because people were lost and early pulling. We wiped twice on the final boss because people wouldn't get on pads the first time. On the third time, when everyone knew what to do, we killed during the second cast.
