I imagine most of us who began Endwalker around when it launched are through the MSQ now, but for those of us newer to the game who might still be in earlier expansions, keep things spoiler tagged!

In other news, Pandaemonium just came out on normal difficulty. The savage mode, along with new crafted gear, tomestone gear as well as the tomestones to get it, are out on 4th January 2022.

Tag. Queues might be getting a bit better? 1.5k at 7:30 PT when a few weeks ago it was 3k at the same time.

I might just be huffing Copium though.

Queue numbers are going down but I feel liken they're moving slower.

I've done P4 5 times now and it's amazing how easy it is when you know what to do.

P2 is really the only one that can still be rough even when everyone is on board.

Nah don't skip the Ivalice cutscenes they have really important lore about auracite in them.

Story is a bit bad though for sure.

Ehhhhh that's like saying the Omega story is necessary because it talks about Dynamis.

Difference is Omega has value outside of that.

just unlocked deltascape so ill probably be doing that first

i doubt ill skip any scenes when i get back to it but im sure i will wish i had!

Omega story is definitely great

It's worth it for Alpha being ultra-cute alone, imo...!

I think Endwalker has the best cinematic for people into the game, but outside of context it's absolutely Shadowbringers.

In fact, if you only count part 2 on the ARR cinematic since part 1 is a 1.0 closer, my cinematic ranking is 1:1 with my expac rating!

The jump in interest for Summoner completely blows up at 86.

Doesn't effect me, but I feel like they should have moved some of this stuff down to a lower level.

Finally got around to trying 83Ex today for about an hour. Didn't manage to get a clear (was in a party with 6 newbies to it including me) but saw enrage twice.

Fun fight. Probably try to find a group to clear/farm it some tomorrow.

so i was googling to help me find a hunt mob and found this tool

you put in your daily hunts and it calculates a route and shows you all the locations

with this, new hunt bills is about 3 mil exp in ~15 minutes. pretty good.

though sometimes it calculates some inefficient routes

Yeah summoner really feels like its missing something when played at lower levels.

if it was, i don't think it could link mob #2 to mob #3 there since there's no connector

Well it's not too hard to adjust routes like that anyway.

Yeah I mean, maybe not to the degree CT is or anything, but I'd definitely say it's pretty necessary.

And the Ultima and Lucavi stuff might not be necessary now but it is going to be in the future, for sure. It already heavily impacted the Bozja story, which is going to continue eventually (presumably at some point in the patch cycle for Endwalker).

Okay current projects are getting all my crafters to 90 and work on old raid series and unlocking all of the extremes and stuff.

I got a metric shit ton of side content to catch up with geesh

Whenever I think I'm getting sick of the Crystal Tower snoozefest raids, my roulette hands me some absolutely cursed Dun Scaith or Ivalice run to make me reconsider

Don't forget JP Haurchefant was hitting on you outright constantly, and all of Limsa's background NPC dialogue. Game's still pretty sexual at times!

why is there any fault here, it's just funny

you can turn summoner pets small but you can't block the blinding light animations

unless you turn off *all* party members effects which you don't necessarily want to do just for one job

Don't worry I already turned them off for one job, it's called holy

i usually turn on party effects for 4 man content and off for 8 man, and the first time i had a summoner in ex roulette was absolutely hilarious

P2 run just now was so borked that I had #2 enmity as PAL then entire run...without Tank stance.

saw a rdm main tank half of the last boss of paradigm's breach last night, and it wasn't even the first time i've seen a rdm main tank that

fight is cursed

It's pretty annoying that so many mechanics are based solely on visual tells when at the same time they are making the attack effects crazier and crazier.

I'm just going to have to turn effects off which is a bummer.

Release week runs later into the week are slow yeah. The good players do it asap and have little reason to run it again for the week, and the rest of the week are people who aren't quite as good at the game and also don't know what's coming, so you just have a clown fiesta

i did them on release morning and #2 and #3 were absolute fiestas, healing #2 is such a pain when people end up spreading out like the mechanics want you to. #3 was all new people so we just ate every mechanic once each (plus our offtank was asleep at the wheel so main tank and healers ended up positioning the birds lol)

4 had 1-2 people who'd already ran it (one was a healer) so it was salvageable

Ive only gotten around to P1 so far but it was pretty easy to figure out blind; just got hit by the flail once or twice the first run.

i forgot to turn off battle effects for p1, so i misread that mechanic until the end; i thought it was front/back not left/right

Ive had battle effects off for like a year because they make hunt trains literally impossible

i'm finding the same thing just for DF in general. i swear i had such a great streak of parties in everything for a few weeks, now i'm getting stuck numerous times with tanks who don't tank, healers who don't attack or use oGCDs, etc, the usual.

I got hit with that pretty hard on the 83 trial last week, in fact! Only had an hour to play each night and it straight up took me three nights to clear that trial because I had two parties that timed out on him. Was totally insane after how much of a stomp literally all the other MSQ trials have been.

that's crazy

i mean i had multiple parties in week 1 where, like, a dozen people died and we recovered and cleared anyway. i can't imagine what it takes to actually just not clear.

This is kind of why I almost exclusively play healer. You can't save a totally hopeless party but you definitely have more power to force a bad group to somehow clear anyways than anyone else.

Divination Rune (specifically the late one that occurs when the tank is probably trying to reposition the boss) has caused far more party wipes than it should

what i always find so mindblowing about people being that bad at ffxiv is that, like, i consider myself really bad at most video game genres

like put me in any FPS or shooter i will literally run around clueless, not being able to dodge a single shot or hit a single opponent. i can't play any action games like devil may cry, bloodborne, etc, i have no reflexes, like i need zelda-style games where your only attack is a single sword swipe or it's too hard for me.

maybe i get the wrong impression because i don't see the bad players in those genres so i just assume everyone is good at them since they're super popular

but i can play ffxiv because, uh, it's just really easy. things are so telegraphed and they happen in the same order every time and you have 2.5 seconds between every button you have to press for your own fixed rotation

so how am i somehow in the, like, upper tier of skill in this game compared to all these people in duty finder...?

The surge of interest because of Endwalker release got all the bads and level skippers back into the game.

I did an ADR the other day that got WoD as a Sage myself and had another Sage in my party. It was HELL. The other Sage wouldn't put Kardia on anyone, much less the tank, never used OGCD heals and healed very little in general, and our tank was one of those tanks that decided they wanted to have a dick measuring contest with the other tanks and used provoke on CD (but no other cooldowns).

Couple that with the DPS completely not doing multiple mechanics (dropping like flies to mortal gaze, not standing in the poison to stop the toxic slime, someone grabbed a chain on Cerberus and just held it and didn't attach, etc) and it was by far the worst experience being a healer I've ever had. I had to work beyond overtime and was out of MP constantly.

Even asked them nicely to use CDs and help heal like 3 times and never got a response.

Was very close to rage quitting which I don't normally do.

the only thing you really need to get great at ffxiv is experience and memorization honestly. i feel like a lot of these bad duty finder players come from games like wow where the gameplay is more chaotic and they feel they have to be in improv mode at all times, but xiv is a ballroom dance, not a mosh pit

a lot of people also don't try to learn their rotation and end up devoting too much brainpower to refiguring it out every fight when its just a contained 1-2m cycle of specific button presses, so they don't realize the boss is casting the same aoe at the same exact second of the fight and it throws them off even more. my ARR epiphany back in the day was realizing weight of the lands didn't need to be reacted to, just be moving when they're about to go off

i guarantee you have at 10k+ hours logged into action video games- yes, you are better than the median sampling of the population

a lot of people play successful mmos outside of lifetime action gamers. a lot of the easy grinding, farming, old content, and crafting is targeted towards them

complaining about newbies or the uncoordinated is not it, guys. in fact, the one thing that's supposed to be true about ffxiv is the positive and supportive community. (this is not targeted towards just you, obviously)

additionally, this game encourages people to grind infinitely and level every class. ofc people aren't gonna be great at their 11th alt

it's super true. my first few runs through a trial or raid fight i look like a huge damn idiot. it takes quite a few runs before my brain irons things out, and then i can almost run it with my eyes closed. it's very easy to slip into bafflement and forget that not everybody has done it a dozen times like you have

also, just had a summoner in my party for the first time since discovering the "/petsize all small" command

WoW devs started an endless quest to beat DBM/weak auras rather than just break them and it has resulted in some very messy encounters.
