I should be more systematic about finding vowels and common letters, but it's so tempting to take a shot at a really quick solve lol.

you can kinda do both sometimes? like, looking at your guesses, your first word has none correct, which means you can try an entirely different second word and between them cover 4 vowels easily, maybe even 5 depending on your letter choices

if you're just trying to hit common letters, SOLAR+UNITE is a great opener.

edit: to get yellows, anyway. there are probably better combos to get the common letters also into their common 'slots'

I think that's the first time I've gotten all-black on the first guess actually. Again though, it was a situation of this pretty much being the only word that I could think of (and it took me a long time to think of it) that fit the hints at that point. I suspect my results would become far less impressive if the game had a timer.

felt like I was getting nowhere and still comfortably had an entire guess to spare with almost all letters already ruled out

I'm more convinced than ever that the only way you really lose this is that you straight up don't know the word exists

this is why i generally try to use 15 letters in my first three guesses rather than chasing the hits. though, i still think that was the only word left, but only because one of the early yellows eliminated another.

this post made me realize there was hard mode, but it's how I was already playing anyway <_<. guess you (kinda) aren't the only one

It forces you to use any Yellow's you've discovered and all the Green's you've discovered in their correct spot.

So you can't use a garbage word to eliminate letters.

Click on the cog wheel in the top right.

not gonna lie I suspect the optimal strategy if you're really playing like that would be to guess words with rare letters in guesses 1-2 so you aren't potentially stuck with them and can test more letters overall
