Props on getting it in just four tries.

I see you don't always keep your correct letters in the same places each guess, I never really thought of swapping things aroundd to clear more letters. feels like it would make every game too similar instead of having to work with what turns up in your first few guesses

tbh it's how basically all my games of this go, every guess up until the last one is super fast and then I spend a while jut trying to think of any possible word that fits. but like, what else are you supposed to do, I'm not gonna guess something that straight up doesn't match my clues so far <_<

This was a tricky one. I managed to figure out all but the middle letter after the 3rd guess, but couldn't think of any words that fit it so had to go off-track a bit. I still couldn't think of it (and indeed, it's not a word I'm familiar with) so ended up brute forcing it - the 5th guess was another valid word that had one letter different.

A friend of mine spoiled today's word for me, but I don't knoe the word so I don't think I'd have gotten it anyways.

I was really struggling with this one. 5th guess was a "try a different word to try and get more letters" but in the end, all I got was the yellow on a letter I already had. The one saving grace was that by my 6th guess, I had eliminated a lot of letters, so it took me ages to think of *any* word with the remaining ones (that fit the clues I had) but when I finally did, it was the right word. I do find that the ones that use the same letter twice really throw me off, lol.

going for the double letter guess always feels super bad since you don't really have any hint towards it, and if it's wrong it's basically a waste of your guess entirely

I feel like a real guess shouldn't happen until the fourth turn, perhaps even the fifth, to be most consistent.

On the TV show Lingo, no one does that though.

They try and solve immediately with the clue given.

Makes no sense because getting the word correctly early doesn't award any type of bonus to the gaming score.

Well, except for the grand prize ending where the winnings are based on speed within a certain time limit.

If you want to solve quickly, I think a really good starting word would be URAEI, just to get most of the vowels out of the way first.

To be honest I don't really like to cheese it. I just go with the first word to come to mind that has some common letters. Today it was power

I have a personal rule that I use all the yellow letters (in new places obviously) and all green letters in the same places. so in some sense I'm always making "real" guesses, not just scouting letters. it's definitely not as efficient but it's a bit more fun since you can't just use the same first 2-3 words every time and it makes your guesses depend a lot more on what your previous results were. I don't really expect to go past 6 guesses anyway so being a bit inefficient doesn't bug me

as for general strats, I like to (spoilered I guess because of the context this gives to my last results post) start with both the E, the A, and some common consonants (usually T/R and then one of L/C/N/N=M but sometimes I swap thse around more. then depending on how many vowels I have I'll try to get O and/or I in my next word, along with S and other common consonants. then usually by guess 3 I have enough letters in place that it becomes about thinkking of words which fit rather than just trying to scout tons of letters, but I still try to pick more common letters first if multiple words come to mind

my guess order for this one was ALTER - RIOTS - TURKS - TRUSS

i didn't even know there could be double letter words, so i was guessing shit that i didn't even think were words at all until it dawned on me to try
