It's also literally a story that already happened in the comics. Peter revealed his identity during Civil War, then Peter kinda sorta made a deal with the devil, and in the end it resulted in Doctor Strange using magic to erase everyone's memory of Peter ever revealing his identity, and making it so no one could ever figure out Peter's identity unless he actively revealed it to them.
