pretty great. I deliberately avoided info about it, so seeing toby and garfield was a cool surprise. guess they can take him out of the mcu completely if they want now.

disappointing they didn't do a sinister six though.

post credits scene is venom, and then there is a trailer for doctor strange W 2 at the very end.

still don't get why idiots clap and cheer during the movie when something happens, but at least this time it didn't go on long enough/be loud enough to effect hearing the next lines.

Willam Defoe was my favorite part of the movie. Hope they find a way to bring him back again.

One thing though never said, but seemed to imply, Tobey and Andrew come from the same year that the MCU is currently in (2025 i think) so they are older then what they were in their last movies.

Easily the best MCU movie since Infinity War or Endgame, may be even one of my new favorites overall. Maybe its the hype talking but I was surprised at how much it surpassed the hype. It was a little fan-servicey but at least in a good way.

Theater went ape shit when Andrew and especially Toby showed up, it was great.

I did not watch enough Spider-Man things to be ready for this movie. Still good overall though! Dragged at some parts. I really like that they went hard with the super soldier serum in Norman. He smashed EVERYONE. Put Hulk and Captain America to shame.

I was confused about why Venom was there since the people transported into the MCU needed to know Peter Parker is Spider-Man in their respective universe? I haven't watched the second Venom movie though, so maybe something was in there.

I think the saddest part is that Peter has to rent his own apartment in New York without any support. Does he understand how expensive that is?! He's gonna be demanded rent every month! And he's working to get his GED. That's so sad when he could've gotten into MIT! I was so confused why things had to turn out that way! What's gonna happen in the fourth?! Such a huge retcon.

they put the end clip from the last Spider-Man movie into the end credits of venom. they also had a line in the movie about "that thing" in San Francisco.

I think this was a way for them to not have to have Spider-Man in disney's control if they don't want to.

Finally a live-action movie that surpasses SM2

Eh I was really only there for the Tobey stuff. I kinda hate the new spiderman as a person and it doesn't help that he's not as cute as the other two

It's like the thing people always used to point out about the Batman movies. You go to all the trouble of coming up with ridiculously over-the-top villains that often wind up being far more interesting or cool than the main character, who you'd love to see show up again, and then they kill them off and the end of their first movie so they can never use them again.

And then you get stuff like the end of The Dark Knight, where they seem like they'd finally wised up and kept the Joker alive, only to have real life get in the way and not be able to use him anyway.

That's pretty much the most comic-accurate version of the character. Peter was always borderline poor.

Part of the Superior Spider-Man storyline (where Doc Ock basically takes over Peter's brain) is pointing out just how terrible Peter is at life management. He's pretty much a genius, yet rather than use that to get a great job or even start his own business/research company, he just freelances for the Daily Bugle and lives at close to subsistence level, constantly on the verge of getting evicted.

Then Ock basically gets to be Peter for a few months, and by the end he's running a scientific company worth tons of money, because he goes out of his way to actually try and be productive and successful rather than just spending all his time Spider-Manning. Which ironically makes Spider-Man more effective, because now he has funding, tech, and isn't constantly worrying about getting thrown out of his apartment. And he probably winds up helping the people he cares about more as as scientist than he ever did as Spider-Man.

But status quo is god, so of course Peter eventually loses all that once he gets his life back.

Peter did do some cool shit with Otto's company in Amazing Vol. 4

I absolutely loved it. Even knowing some of the spoilers, it was great. I got goosebumps at times.

Did y'all notice that the apartment at the end was very similar to the one in Spider-Man on PS4/5 and even had similar shots. The ending of the movie was very reminisicent of the games opening

There is speculation that Tom Holland will be in the final episode of Hawkeye now. Hawkeye spoilers *as his final swings in the movie are taking him to Rockefeller Center during Christmas while its snowing, and that is what has been seen for teaser images/videos of the final episode of Hawkeye.

when Ned was trying to open a portal the 2nd time it sounded like he said "Peter porker"... would have been funny to see a glimpse of that.

I believe they are rebooting Daredevil, and they're using the same actors.

I also cannot believe they referenced the scientist meme but not the dance, they really wanted to avoid the low hanging fruit

I had no choice but to see this movie this weekend since my coworkers are certainly going to be talking about it on Monday but it was worth dealing with the large crowds and packed theaters. Very fun, enjoyable, fanservice-y movie. The Amazing Spider-Man movies were ok but I Ioved Andrew Garfield in this. The audience cheered and applauded like 10 different times

The villains are all caricatures of themselves, most notably Dr. Ock. He goes from bad to good because they essentially flip a switch.

To be fair, that's pretty much an accurate description of his arc in the movie he was originally in as well.

I agree about Sandman and Lizard. Not because they were all CGI the whole time, but because they just didn't get a ton of dialog.

Just finished seeing it. I also went in blind, other than seeing Doc Ock in commercials and all the hype about whether Garfield and Maguire would be in it (but I didn't actually have any confirmation),and it blew me away. With the level of sacrifice and bittersweetness that he's going through, Holland finally feels like a real Spider-Man instead of Iron Man Jr.

Ill probably think of more to say later, but one thing that bothered me was Doctor Strange saying the spell going wrong was all Peter's fault. Strange knows what kind of repercussions that kind of spell would have on a person's life as well as what could go wrong if it isn't performed properly, so he should have made damn sure he knew exactly how that spell was supposed to go with all the specifics. Instead he just goes STRAIGHT into launching the spell without a single single word more. Him also trying to stay out of the situation afterward was very irresponsible.

I just wanted to say it's hilarious people are treating Tobey and Andrew as some huge spoiler. It was obvious they'd be there even since Molina was confirmed.

If you didn't go into the film knowing they'd be in it, you're just stupid.

I logged in to this board after 1 year gone from this board just to say I thought this movie was so bad it put me in a dissociative state, it was everything I hate in a movie. I walked out and felt like I was just bringing everyone else down by expressing how much I hated it.

The humor was written by 14 year old girls or something, the story didn't make any bit of sense. Going by Occam's razor, if I was Tom Holland Spider-man, having lived through it I would sooner believe that I had a schizophrenic break from reality and seek help immediately. That's not a joke, I'm 100% serious, that's how unbelievable the story was to me. Actually that's a pretty good way to explain the story of the MCU, a basket of schizophrenia.

So yeah, I'll leave the movies up to MCU fans from now on who like this stuff, because if I watch this shit I'm going to get really angry. I'm not going to watch any more floppy ass CGI characters fly around the screen and pretend to be involved or pretend I haven't seen every trope being thrown up on the screen before.

If anyone in a comic book universe actually had realistic psychological reactions, they probably would have entered catatonic denial fugue state about 20 minutes after gaining super powers in the first place. And if not then, probably after a demigod from space used ancient magic to snap away 50% of all life in the universe for 5 years.

Nearly all soft sci-fi and fantasy is predicated on the assumption that people in-universe are more likely to accept weird things as a matter of course rather than suffer a complete and total breakdown the moment their original world-view is shattered. Because otherwise most movies would be kind of boring.

See the old spiderman movie characters and actors was 90 percent of what was shocking/interesting/fun about the whole movie.

And so of course... Youtube/gaming site articles/everyone online weeks before the movie came out: "LeT's TalK aBoUT DaFOe, GaRFieLD, McGuire Ect in TeH mOvIE aNd wHAt iT mEAns fOr tEh eM-See-YoOo"
