From sex-crazed 20-something that desperately needed to get laid to a pushing 40 prude in a loveless marriage. From trash talking "pro" fighting game player to "mature adult" who wouldn't be caught dead shopping at stores populated by those people for the safety of himself and his "family." Yes, but also, his appeal to games as art is just obnoxious, because he flat out doesn't believe it. He has previously stated that if games aren't fun, they're bad games. An inherent quality of the act of playing a game is that it must be "fun" to be worthwhile to experience. But now when it suits him he's whining and ranting that games should be taken seriously as an artform. If you think games inherently must evoke a "fun" experience/feeling at all times while playing them, then you don't think games are or can be art. There's no ifs or buts. But since games are his livelihood and his audience views them in a slightly more reverent tone than him, and possibly because he doesn't understand the logical consequences of the things he says, it behoves him to also attempt to raise their profile and inherent value by labelling them as an artform. He doesn't just sit and enjoy them, he keeps merticulous track with his audience about how much of the game is left so he can schedule around it. He got really bitchy that Metroid Dread, a game he says is really good, went longer than expected based on what his fans said (no doubt because he's absolutely terrible at it and can't understand that that would effect the completion time). When he was doing the final level of Forza he kept keeping track of the race progression bars and saying "only so and so much time left till we beat Forza!" Literally the finale of a game he bitched wasn't nominated for game of the year at the game awards and that's all he's thinking about. His schedule. His streams.
