I think it depends entirely on what sort of evidence they're bringing forward. The DA acknowledged that the charges were unusual, but they seem to think they have a pretty compelling case.

I don't know enough about this to say for sure. Definitely not something that normally happens with school shooters though. Those parents could be looking at quite a bit of jail time if convicted.

Agree with post 2 and 3.

We, as in the general public, don't know enough at this point.

For what it's worth after posting here I saw that there was another topic on the charges. Apparently the parents were well aware that their student was making school shooting threats and had been repeatedly called in to the school over it and then laughed it off and bought the kid a gun anyway.

They actually told the kid that they weren't angry at him when he got caught searching for ammo on his phone in class, he just had to be better at not getting caught.

Whoops.

Well if thats all trueyeah they sound sort of responsible even if indirectly. It sounds like they ignored a lot of red flags.

If this is true, than fair next

Also, what exactly was the motivation? Was the kid just a piece of shit, or was he targeted by bullies with zero consequences?

so that makes a difference in how you view this case? if he was or wasn't constantly bullied?

Not necessarily, but if the kid was bullied and the school failed him, like that kid in Texas, than the school should be held accountable too.

It's just "justice theater". Without irrefutable evidence of shenanigans, the worst that'll stick is some sort of negligence charge.

A black kid was targeted, harassed, bullied, and robbed naked on school grounds at gunpoint, and had his life threatened. He eventually had enough and shot the bullies. I think he turned himself in. Iirc bullies all survived but had zero consequences.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I'm a tad hazy on the details.
