I started out the year a little slow and it does get hard to run in the winter between trying not to die on ice and having to come in early to plow the snow if it dumps enough on us. Once I started picking up the miles midway through the year I wondered if I would be able to get my monthly average up to 100 miles and I've gotten close enough I think I can do it if I push a bit during December and if the weather helps me so I don't have to come into work at 2 AM so I can get a 10k in before my normal start time at 5.

Destination is always the same, back home. I did look to see how far away from home my radius has taken me and it looks like I am nearly to Miami, Florida from where I'm at in Michigan.

I also had my dog Odie with me for nearly all of it. He went on a bit of a hiatus when my wife was home on maternity leave and he knew he'd get a couple walks a day with her. The butthead would refuse to come down with me in the morning so I had to run alone in the dark for a couple months.

We are a super annoying people. Something breaks in your brain when you start running where you lose any ability to stop yourself from talking about running despite knowing no one gives a fuck. Also, most running stories involve black toenails or someone taking a shit in the middle of a run.

I've run 0 miles this year.

Well, that's probably not entirely true, since I've occasionally like jogged across a parking lot or something and have probably racked up at least 1-2 doing that, but I'm fine with rounding down.

I could try running but most of the year is impossible to run in this state. I'd like to tell stories like that.

I did accidently take my niece's cat for a walk in early spring this year though.

Yeah, it helps that I'm in a fairly flat part of Michigan and I live in a neighborhood that if I hit absolutely every bit of road and cul-de-sacs I can eke out 6 miles without backtracking. That way I've got almost no car traffic to worry about and the only limiting factor is weather and my health.

Speaking of, my daughter is sick and has passed that along to me. I am not a fan of running in the cold with a cold, but I still think I can get it done.

113 to go.

I just meant from the Arizona heat. I could walk to a fairly big park in about 10 minutes from my house.

Yeah, the worst heat I have to deal with is maybe 80 in the early morning on our worst days of summer. I have run when it was something like -10 F, but cold is far easier to deal with than heat considering you can only take so much off to cool off, but I can always bundle up a bit more.

I didn't run on Sunday because I didn't sleep more than 3 hours, but now I've got it down to 100 miles remaining.

Odie was psyched for the run on Saturday and had us cruising at a pace of 8:06/mile for 7 miles. Then he was begging for more so he went with my wife when she got out for a run too.

You're right, she has been mooching for nearly 6 months. Actually 16 if you count all that time in the oven. Plus I had gone 32 years without ever being shit on and that streak has been reset twice since she came around. Time for her to move out.

However, Viv did impress me last week when I was holding her while I peed and she puked up a huge load of mucus and managed to hit the bowl perfectly. Only had to clean up a little off my arm!

A very snowy 10k this morning. Odie was psyched and every quarter mile or so I'd hear his teeth scraping the cement as he scooped some snow up to eat on the run. I could barely see and it slowed me down a bit, but I'm glad I got the run in instead of having to come in early to deal with plowing the snow..

This morning was a bit of a rough slippery run since all the slush we got yesterday solidified over night, but for the most part I haven't really had to run in real cold weather so far this month. Maybe one day that dipped below 20F, but I actually got 2 shirtless runs in this December which is pretty crazy.

Nice

Yeah it hasn't been too cold this December. My cold tolerance has plummeted over the years though, it only takes being below 30F for me to start losing feeling in my hands and feet even while I'm running. I'd rather run in 100F lol

Oh, fuck that lol I would much rather run in the cold than the heat. I can only take so much off and I sweat my balls off in the heat. The cold I can layer up pretty well and have dealt with temps down to -10F without too much of an issue other than eyelashes freezing up and chapped lips.

Oh and the chafing does get worse once I have to wear my cold weather tights, but if I am very liberal with my Glide stick on my taint it's normally not too bad.

100F is extreme yeah lol but I handle high heat much better than the cold. Though I don't think I've had my eyelashes freeze before. My favorite temperature is between 60F-70F, I can stick to minimal clothing without being too hot or cold.

God damn dude. Those are some numbers. I doubt I'll ever get my pace close to that since I'm too damn lazy to really try and train for much faster times. Your marathon is over an hour off of mine. I nearly died going for a 4 hour marathon. I still blame the giant fucking bridge to Canada in the first 5k of the Detroit International marathon. That bridge destroyed me for the remainder of the run.

Hit some ice I didn't realize was there on a culdesac and fell on my ass. My dog turned to see what the hell was happening and he fell on his face. Glad neither one of us got too hurt. Would have sucked to get this close and get injured.
