Psychonauts 2 is genuinely amazing and I very highly recommend picking it up. Everything that was great about the first game is far better, and all the frustrating parts are practically ironed out. There's tons of creativity with their interpretation of mental constructs, plus just some absolutely gorgeous visuals, especially in the psychedelic '70s level.

Having tied up a few loose ends in Psychonauts 2, I'm glad to have experienced it. Tim Schaefer hasn't lost his touch.

The final person's mental landscape was kind of a pain to finish off. There's a photo mode filter you can buy post-story that makes collectibles visible through walls when using it. However, this doesn't help all the time because they use this trick where you like, go into something the size of a doghouse and it's actually really big inside. Presumably, this is actually really far away from the main level, so it's out of the range of the filter, even if you're only a few feet away from it. That person uses this trick a lot in the first segment of their mind, so it was the only place I had to use a guide on.

Another devious secret is when you come across a memory of the person visiting the camp from the first game, and it's a sort of theme park ride diorama, so the "distant" cabins are close, but really small. Well, running up to these cabins actually causes you to shrink as you get close, and you actually get a prompt to enter them, where a few more collectibles are.

Well, my brother tested positive for covid. I'll let him have my artemisinin and start wiping the house down.

Decided to get this little farming/combat/crafting game called Kitaria Fables. It's a bit repetitive and grindy, but enjoyable. Farming is very basic and hardly the central focus. You till, plant, water, harvest, repeat. No quality levels so crops are worth more or heal more, no sprinklers to my knowledge, and no hazards to the crops. The crops give slim profits, and the only way to get real money out of them is cooking them into something better. A real easy early one is turning wheat and corn into flour and oil. For some reason, you can't cook food yourself; you have to go to certain merchants and they'll cook the food for a very small fee.

There's no hotbar, so swapping between multiple tools requires opening the inventory each time and equipping them. There are quick-use slots, but there's much more practical things you can put in them besides tools. Though, it seems like tilled soil doesn't revert back, so you don't need to use the hoe all that much. When I got my first inventory space upgrade, I started permanently carrying the axe and pickaxe around since wood and stone/ore spawn in certain spots around the map. The watering can is absolutely the first thing you should upgrade.

Combat is where most of the focus seems to have gone. There's multiple gear pieces, a bunch of magic spells, and status effects. Plus, slaying monsters is where you'll find most of the crafting materials. The most useful fighting method I found is the Tornado spell. It pushes enemies back while continuously damaging them, so if there's a lot of ground behind them, they'll take a lot of damage. It's pretty much the only way to beat the beefy golems with your crap early equipment.

One fantastic early-game money farm I found is to go to the East Forest Field, which is full of enemies that drop amber and honeycombs. Amber sells for 1,000 gold, and honeycombs can be turned into jars of honey at the castle outpost that sell for 350. When you've killed everything there, you can exit and go right back to respawn everything.

A couple more observations about the Switch LED controller. First, the system doesn't display its remaining battery life in the controller menu for some reason. Second, the LEDs actually blink green after it's fully charged. I've taken to charging it in the kitchen since there's no way to stop the LEDs from flashing when it's charging. Seriously, who thought that was a good idea? Were the four tiny green lights that come standard on every controller not good enough?

If you want a nostalgia hit, look up "bro wake up it's" on youtube. Lots of little nostalgia hits from 2004-2012. Stuff we took for granted and maybe even thought was stupid at the time. Saw a comment that posted a great quote from Winnie the Pooh: "We didn't realize we were making memories. We just knew we were having fun."

Oh, they added some free expansions to What The Golf, that funny parody minigolf game. That game's a master of the bait-and-switch. In one expansion, there's a beach ball sitting on a frozen lake, so you think you'll be hitting the ball around, but when you make the first hit, it turns out you're gonna be whacking the lake itself around. And in another, you use the golf controls to control a character painting a picture. You do two simple ones, then a much more complex third one pops up. You go to start painting and suddenly the character is whacked out of their chair and it turns out you're just supposed to whack them over to the flag.
