I wonder who gets in if that happens and OK State loses.

Could it actually be Notre Dame?

I'd imagine so. Probably both Georgia and Alabama (unless Bama gets smashed) plus Big Ten Champion plus ND. If Bama does lose big then it gets iffy as you're into best 2 loss team which may be someone out of the Big 12? Loser of OSU/Michigan? Fuck it Bama anyway?

The receiver stopped and tilted backward some. I don't think it was catchable without running into a defender.

I'm biased, of course, but at the same time I'm trying to explain what I think the ref's thought process was.

I mean maybe it wasn't all at once, but they've basically just defaulted to division titles in down years for Georgia even before he left (really since Tebow left).

Well, Urban recognized it was a sinking ship at Florida and that was why he bailed. He technically wasn't forced out at Ohio State, but he might as well have been.

Ohio State knew that the real power behind Meyer teams are his coordinators, and hired one of those to replace him. See also: Fickell in Cincy.

Florida went outside the program, thus purging everything Meyer.

For everyone who's said Notre Dame has no path in, you're... Disturbingly wrong, actually.

If Cincinnati wins out, they have a legitimate shot at the 3. Notre Dame is fully capable of following them up the ladder and ending at 4. Ohio State removes Michigan, Georgia removes Alabama because of Alabama's second loss.

Honestly the only thing that may directly keep them out is Oklahoma/Oklahoma State sweeping the next two games, but even then, Notre Dame has a loss to 3 and a win over current #14 on their resume, and that's better than Oklahoma has. It's a significantly better loss than Ok State's.

I'm reluctant to think Oklahoma can even pass Notre Dame by beating Ok St. twice.

Notre Dame has plausible ways in. They basically just hope for Georgia to beat Bama and then they just need 1 of the following:

Cinci lose to Houston
Wisconsin Big Ten Champion
OK state not to win out

Even though they don't control their own destiny they have one of the likelier ways in IMO because they should win out and they basically only need 1 slip up elsewhere and when you aggregate those together it's probably more likely than not that 1 team messes up

Imagine the most chaotic playoffs situation possible......

2-Loss Georgia
2-Loss Alabama
2-Loss Ohio State
2-Loss Michigan
2-Loss Oregon
2-Loss Oklahoma/Oklahoma St
1-Loss Cincinnati
1-Loss Notre Dame

How would the commission handle this? May as well just award Kansas the National Championship.

2-Loss Georgia

This is not very likely since Georgia Tech's chances of beating Georgia are lower than Georgia's own 1-in-300,000 chances of beating the Detroit Lions.

But let's say...
Auburn pulls an upset on Bama and then Bama beats Georgia in the SEC Championship.
TOSU beats Michigan, then loses to Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship.
Both OK teams beat each other once in a two-game series.
Cincy loses somewhere

Georgia is guaranteed with one loss, and I think Cincy is too since they beat Notre Dame.
Oregon is out, since they haven't had a quality win since against TOSU in September, and the loss to Utah is a big black mark.
With three possibilities, one Big Ten team has to make it, and that's probably Wisconsin. I'm not just saying this because I'm a Badger fan - I'm saying this because of how dominant the Badgers have been in October and November (why the AP poll still ranks Iowa, a team we obliterated, above us, I don't know - talk about disrespectful). If so many other teams have two losses, the committee will overlook three losses in September if those are not representative of the way the team is currently playing. Three losses is usually killer, but not here.
The 4th slot will probably go to an NCAA pet like Bama, Notre Dame, or TOSU because "reasons." Notre Dame lost to Cincy but beat Wisconsin so... maybe them.

How would the commission handle this?

Definitely Alabama (SEC champ, is Alabama). Probably Oregon (conference champ, plus the Ohio State win is great) and Notre Dame (only one loss). Definitely not Georgia (GT would be that abysmal a loss). Which one of Ohio State/Michigan/Cincinnati/Big 12 champ joins them depends a lot more on how the teams get to their final records, but I think the Michigan/OSU winner would be the most likely pick.

Officials just made a huge call in Iowa/Nebraska.

Endzone TD on 4th down where the defender knocked it out of his hands after he went to the ground. All the announcers/experts said TD.

Ref overturned it so no touchdown and Nebraksa ball.

And now a big targeting tackle wasnt called against Nebraksa.

It wasnt even reviewed just to be clear. No penalty called at all.

Edit: I'm not one to usually complain about refs but everything is being called for Nebraska here. Like an illegal formation penalty got called on an Iowa 3rd down conversion 5 seconds after the play ended. Not after a review or anything. They just got together after the play and then decided to throw the flag.

And a Nebraska player put his hands on the ref and is still in the game. It was just swatting away the refs hand but it will be another example to add to the pile.

To an extent. They'd be a 17+ point dog.

When the Browns went 0-16, they were worse than this Lions team and still would've been a 14.5 favorite over the college national champion that year - Florida I think?

And I would've given them those points because that's the difference between a team that's mostly pro caliber and a team that mostly isn't.

The Lions would probably smash Georgia to bits.

I think Oklahoma would leapfrog Notre Dame if they beat Oklahoma State twice, by the way, so Notre Dame needs both Oklahoma AND Oklahoma State to lose a game. It's realistic though that the winner of Oklahoma/Oklahoma State will lose the championship game, since I'm pretty skeptical of both teams.

Yeah, wouldn't even be surprised if it happened honestly.

I DO think that OU beating Ok St twice in a row would very likely create an opening for them to slip into the top 4, and I think reports of their demise were exaggerated. I think they get in as long as either Alabama or Cincinnati loses if they win out.
