But they still need to pay him the max anyway because that's just how sports work. Unless they are trading him it makes no sense. Nobody wants to pay a C max money but you kinda set yourself up for that when you take a C that high. They wanted 4, ayton wanted 5) is because that would've made him a designated player, which would be their 2nd of 2.
