The Sengoku Basara anime is ... not for everybody. Games are baller, though.

My youngest brother loves the games (both localised games, and a PS3 copy of the enhanced 4th game in Japanese, though lot of guesswork in there), and enjoyed the movie which I was able to find a while back. Shame the following anime stuff didn't get a local release as best I can find. I'll have to find a dub of the third season online, and the school one only has subs to my knowledge, bad for someone who has difficult reading.

Indeed. Shipping on it was higher though, for some reason the shipping for that was for more total items than the Dragon Age movie, so I got the movie as well to get lower shipping with a limit of 3 items, rather than twice that. Wasn't getting that much, they had a lot of DVDs, but no other anime.

Ugh, my grandma that I live with and my aunt that lives nearby have covid and my mom was saying yesterday that she thinks she had a cold. Good chance I've already got it and I am somewhat at risk with my health conditions. I guess I just have to hope for the best.

On the anime side of things, ranking of kings still good. Genius prince had a better second episode and looks pretty good. Leadale still chill and watchable.

I saw the movie 'Your Name'.

Very nice movie

I guess I'm calling it fantasy knockout, the one with the guy and his friend that gets turned into a girl in a fantasy world. It's pretty funny IMO. The gimmick won't last forever so I hope they introduce some new elements at some point but for now it's funny.

Very nice movie

One of the best, if not the best animated films.

World trigger finally got it's last episode to air and it was a pretty good season overall. I think season 2 was a bit better paced and produced but the fights in the last 2 episodes and some of the effects in the earlier episodes this season were pretty great. Still love the show.

Worst crest skirts the line of barely of watchable. The main character basically don't have a personality but at least theres lots of fights I guess. The fights aren't great but they could be worse.

Realist hero is still good. I kinda thought it's S2 would really overshadow genius prince for me but I'm just enjoying both. War politics are enjoyable and I'd be happy to see more series like these.

I was considering buying it this week, had it wishlisted for ages

Ive started watching Neon Genesis Evangelion. The only other NGE things is parts of End of Evangelion and the 1.1 and 2.2 movies, which I enjoyed.

2 episodes in and I can already tell its a classic. The Op is definitely a top ten contender.

So is the watch order supposed to be NGE > End of Eva > Rebuild Movies?

Just watch Evangelion and End of Evangelion.

Enjoying Metroid Dread. Though, the bosses seem pretty damn hard.

Demon Slayer is going hard this season my god. It's like, we had season 1 demon slayer with nice animation, then jujutsu kaisen was like "nah, we got the best shonen fight animation" and now demon slayer is taking back that throne. It's been like 3-4 episodes in a row of great looking fight scenes. Characters are all still average at best and the villains are lame.

Also wtf kingdom season 4 is coming out next anime season?!?!? That's so soon. Season 3 ended so recently and I figured it'd be another year or more before we got another season, especially with how troubled it's production was and yet I only gotta wait 3 months. Next season also has a yuri isekai. I'm hyped already.

The yuri isekai is called "Shokei Shoujo no Virgin Road". I'm not sure just how yuri it is. MAL didn't list yuri or shoujo ai as a tag but the comments on the PV said the source was definitely yuri. Basic plot is people occasionally come from japan into this fantasy world and always bring disaster with them. One of our main character is tasked with killing everyone who comes over to prevent the disasters but she runs into one girl she just can't kill and of course develops feelings for her over time.

The premise reminded me a lot of 12 kingdoms. it's basically the same setup. It's sadly not like a yuri ecchi harem isekai that I'd love but as a yuri fan you take what you can get cause theres slim pickings. PV looked solid.

Might start that next, if I can beat the final boss in Dread. Well, I think it's the final boss.

It's been some time since I finished Arise now. I look back on it and think it was ok. Not the best tales game, not the worst. I think the combat against normal enemies is the best it's ever been though. Definitely the highlight of the game. The characters are fine but not up there with the best casts. The game spent too long being serious for them to really get to shine.

The english voice acting is really good in small areas. I still think back to 6th characters overlimit where he goes "ahh....rage...." in this seething calm tone. Or in the later parts of the game when a certain character gets KOd in battle sometimes Alphen will scream like...well like one of his friends just died. The story starts off fine but ends up terrible. A shame. The world also ends up feeling kinda small by the end of it. Lot's of fields but not a lot of memorable destinations. Post game takes you to max level in like 5 hours and you can finish the whole thing super fast. A big let down there.

The boss combat is pretty terrible though. All the fun combos just don't work on them whatsoever and it becomes much slower and more reactive.

Yeah, they really put zero effort into those. The series is sold entirely on its visuals.

Post game takes you to max level in like 5 hours and you can finish the whole thing super fast. A big let down there.

i literally did the super boss run on auto-battle, and the secret boss

several times, to get to max level lmao

there was no danger of losing, the game gets very easy at the end

I was playing on hard so I don't think autobattle would have handled it but yeah, boss fights end up pretty easy. On my 2nd run on the hardest difficulty the boss rush was fairly challenging since I did it right away at level 61 or so. Had quite a few game overs during that although it still mostly devolved into spamming aerial ranged auto targeting moves and kiting.

I made it to the 4th Realm City in Arise. Still enjoying it.

1st Realm Major Boss and Dungeon was ok/ neat.

2nd Realm Major Boss and Dungeon... dungeon was ok, but the Boss was chaotic af, and absolutely the hardest boss so far. The one before it wasnt easy either.

3rd Realm was the most fun so far despite it being 3 dungeons right after each other. The Major Boss here was the most fun boss so far, but I accidently cheese it because the Mystic Arte only hits certain areas. I noticed and chipped away as it spammed 4 extra MAs

So far Im cool with the entire cast, which is rare. The only other Tales game where I like the entire cast is Vesperia.

Yeah, Im playing of Moderate, and those bosses I feel I got a little lucky. I havent Game Overed yet, but those two, plus a later boss from the 3rd realm brought me close. Im not a fan of the AI or most of the boss fights, and that 2nd realm boss highlighted a lot of my complaints

I forgot about how annoying the AI is. There are some tweaks you can do to the default strategy to make it a little better. The big key thing is to replace all instances of keep distance with do nothing. Keep distance is troll and doesn't work well but when on do nothing, they are unkillable dodge tanks. Things play much better when teammates stop attacking when under 50% hp or so and wait to get healed.

The real issue is not being able to set per person strategies. Like, you want your ranged characters to keep their distance, that'd be a great thing for them to use, but then your melee people will run back and forth and waste time and get hit. Infuriating. It's a mockery of the gambit system it's ripping off.

Ranking of kings plot is wild. Every time I think I know whats going to happen, something weird happens instead. Ok, not nearly every time, but often enough to keep me on my toes. It's like every plot event has a 1/5 chance to just be nonsense. Maybe the bad guy will start crying and hide in the corner, maybe the good guy will try to kill himself by face planting on the stone floor but be mostly fine cause he's too strong, maybe the bad guy's attack will just be to kick the other guy in the nuts. Maybe lightning will just come of nowhere and oneshot someone. Maybe the king will save people that he was about to kill for mysterious reasons. And yet, it doesn't feel like bullshit, it feels like theres a method to the madness that's just out of reach. Good show.

Been watching season 1 of priconne because it's basically budget konosuba. It's watchable. I like how the main male character that is probably supposed to be the harem lead is borderline not sentient. Like, they took him beyond being dumb to being unable to communicate like a functional person and he is more like a pet than a person. He also kinda looks like a blue kazuma alt. Cygames studio has way too much talent that they are completely wasting on mobile games adaptations.

Decided to start Tales of Arise. This has got to be the bleakest opening to a Tales game I've played so far. Time to change the world I guess.

theres no evidence in the game showing hes any older than like 7 years old honestly, so it's entirely probably they're all lusting after a literal child

remember the main trio's ages is 11, 14, and 17

In the show he's gotta be at least like 15. He doesn't act like a 7 year old either though. He legit like, cannot talk. It's as though he's learning speech and human concepts for the first time and it's genuinely pretty funny. He also gets fuckin ruined like every episode. Dude is racking up trauma faster than girls.

They also so far haven't even remotely lusted after him. He is such a background thing in the show, which is why he's funny. He's like kenny in south park.

I used to buy a lot of DVD/Blurays, but lately I've just taken to sharing my sister's streaming services or going full black flag. I still do buy my favorite series though; like I plan to buy every new Case Closed movie to support the new dub, and I've got my eye on the Bartender collector's edition.
