Obviously when you have brands like Pagani and Koenigsegg being the baddest big brand supercars on the planet, you also have the other end of the spectrum. I'm not sure what is worse.

On one hand, Ferrari has the racing pedigree, but they just seem played out and tryhard as a brand who's up their own ass and internal politics are disgusting and hugely offputting. On the other hand you have Lamborghini who has done some motorsport, they don't hold a candle to Ferrari in that regard, and have always marketed themselves to the "I wanna show off on the street at 20 mph while people take pictures of me" crowd

Not sure which is the most basic bitch brand of that segment of cars.

Masarati is not a supercar brand. They make dogshit vehicles and have been surviving by marketing alone. Porsche has affordable options for people who aren't the superrich. I have respect for the brand.

Sure you can. Most flagship supercar brands have a "culture" about them from how their company treats customers, to the aftermarket, to how they treat social media, all the way to how they try and force their way into how you sell the car after you're done with it.

I like the Lamborghini story. Lamborghini made his money mostly building tractors. Smart guy apparently. Owned a lot of cars - one for every day of the week - including a Ferrari.

His Ferrari had a lot of clutch problems so he went to talk to Ferrari with ideas to make the clutch more reliable. Ferrari was insulted and called Lamborghini a farmer.

Lamborghini was so pissed he created the Lamborghini auto marque just to specifically make cars that were one step better than Ferrari's.

A base model porsche 911 isn't a supercar and can boast superior performance as well (I'd argue that even a 911 GT2 RS isn't a supercar). Supercars start at a higher pricepoint and generally offer more comfort with better fit and finish than your standard high end sports cars. $300k on the lowest end is where you start getting into supercar territory.

EDIT: And as for corvettes, it's just a bog standard sports car, the ZR1 trims are in the high end sports car realm. Chevy would have to do something like what Ford did with the new Ford GT to get into the lower end of the supercar realm, and only offer exclusive level production numbers to get past the fact that it's an undesirable brand in that particular market.

You would be hard pressed to find a "bad" supercar if you compare it to every car ever made from a base model civic on up. But in the realm of super and hypercars, they're lame and forgettable imo. Now, if you want to include the race homologation version like a Huracan STO that's a completely different discussion and tbqh, I don't consider those the same vehicles at all catering to a completely different customer base.

Ive always thought BMW i8's are for people that arent rich but wanted to own a supercar. And I feel like now a days Rolls Royce has become that brand even tho I love their cars. Feels like every celebrity owns some kind of RR.

EDIT: Oh wait topic was about super cars not just expensive cars - Lambo is the basic bitch brand for sure. Ferrarri at least has some level of exclusivity to it.

Mclaren has some problems, they're expanding way too fast and killing their secondhand market as a result as anything you get from them will depreciate extremely fast vs other brand's offerings of the same vintage.

If you modify the vehicles in any way they have a tendency to void your entire warranty regardless if it causes issues or not. Their paint is a bit shit for what you pay for. Other than that, A Mclaren P1 is probably my second favorite car of all time.

Thats what I was getting at. Gallardos and Murcielagos would be bottom tier supercars. But something like the Aventador SVJ would not.

The vast majority of people buying from Lamborgini are buying the entry level models or even that godawful urus suv, to the point where the special editions and higher end models are inconsequential to this discussion and not indicative of the majority of customers.
