Is his wife, Chantelle Hot?

The US Marines broke with centuries old tradition and ruled that a Sikh soldier can wear a turban and sport a unshorn beard in uniform but only at duty stations and not while deployed or at military ceremonies

First Lt. Sukhbir Toor wrapped a turban onto his head after pulling on his combat utility uniform last week for the first time since joining in 2017 and is the first Sikh to do so

While he feels this is a step in the right direction, he intends to SUE the Marines unless he's granted permission to wear his turban and maintain his beard out in COMBAT as well!!

He said the limitations would have to either sacrifice his career or his ability to practice his religion and has started the appeals process

He told the NYT "We've come a long way but there is still more to go. The Marines Corps needs to show it really means what it has been saying about strength in diversity and it doesn't matter what you look like, just matters you can do your job"

Under the current rules his beard will need to stay neatly trimmed and inspected by a commander and shave entirely if he's sent on a combat mission...

The Sikh Coalition, a civil rights advocacy group is representing him and said it's disappointing that they will allow him to practice his faith when it's convenient for them and would rather derail his career than acknowledge his right to practice Sikh.

He initially shaved and got a haircut when he first joined the Marines but has since grown it back after the new rules were in place. In the wake of 9/11 he was acutely aware of the negative associations with turbans and beards but he felt he had a debt to be paid when his family came to American for the American Dream and he got it.

Now he is only asking to allow diversity among the troops so he doesn't have to sacrifice his religion in order to stay and his wife, Chantelle Toor supports him all the way.

The couple is also a big fan of Canada's NDP leader JAGMEET SINGH who became the first Sikh to run as a federal leader of a major party.

The first question is do they make exceptions for other religious groups? Otherwise it makes sense to not have him wear it on duty, since it defeats some of the point of uniforms.

And yes, his wife is pretty hot.

The other military forces do, and I cannot think of a reason the Navy could have that wouldn't also apply to the army and air force.

They can wear Kevlar over the turban, as well as get a good seal on their protective mask. It's no problem in the Army. No good reason for the Navy not to accommodate

I'm not samiliar with the details of Sikh beliefs, but can't you wear a turban over/under(both?) a helmet?

That's what I'm saying. In the Army, Sikh soldiers can and do wear a kevlar helmet over their turbans

By the sounds of things, he gave up the practice for the sake of getting into the marines, but religion has since become a bigger part of his life and he wants to get back into it.

So he was able to compromise before, but now wants to have it both ways? (For clarity, I think the cultural identifiers that do not actually affect anything, should be fine)

Pretty much. It's reasonable enough, if there's precedent for other Sikh military members wearing their turbans full-time. He just didn't feel that he was in a position to fight it before and/or didn't feel strongly enough to do so.

Dude. A regular helmet. If anything just take the pads out. This is the one I wore in Iraq

thats what I never understood when it came to hair. As soon as women were allowed to join/join combat units any real reason to limit hair length went out the window. Like you said, if the seal can get achieved then what difference does it make. Apparently now white dudes that claim a Norse religion dont have to shave either.

Because life and people are complicated? Time passes and feelings about things change. Maybe he doesnt want to wear it at all times but wants to wear it while he represents the US

a better question is why do you care or feel like you have to know

Turban, yes, as long as it doesn't interfere with his protective head wear.

Beard, no, he will likely not be able to get a proper seal on his gas mask.

i dont care.

this is a message board, on gamefaqs. If caring about a topic was a prerequisite to posting here then gamefaqs would have maybe ten social board topics total.

however one factor in the corporate world For an exemption, which allows individuals vastly more rights and freedoms than military life, would be if his beliefs are Sincerely held. Normally it is a difficult burden for anyone to object to but in his case the fact that he had no issues at a previous time calls into question if his Beliefs are in fact meeting that.

and thats a civilian corporate world standard for religious exemption, which is going to be harder for an employer to challenge over an employee than For the United States military over a serviceman.

so if his claim might have problems in a civilian situation because of that then in a military one it makes his claim even weaker.
