If only I could actually say anything about it without spoiling the whole show! Flanagan is a master of horror. Not quite as good as Hill House which was a real hair-blown-back moment for me, but right up there with it.

Mike Flanagan has never put out anything I didn't like.

*Spoilers below*

When searching Midnight Mass on the first day, I saw a bunch of articles titled "ending explained" or something similar that I quickly ignored. After watching the series, which was great by the way, what exactly needs to be explained about the ending? It feels like everything about the ending was pretty straightforward and tied nicely in a bow. I'll have to go back and look at those article. Probably just clickbait.

When dealing with religion, it's always a bit of a tightrope one way or the other. I felt the show handled it about as well as one could expect. Kind of portraying the whole spread. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Good and bad people weren't divided by any clear religious or nonreligious lines, and that's a good thing, because that's reality. Not the constant stereotypes we usually get in media.

But the concept itself is fascinating. Mistaking a vampire for an angel. The script was incredible. Those long scenes of dialogue. With the wrong script, it would put most to sleep and cause them to turn off the tv. And maybe some still did. But it was very engaging and interesting. Good show. This is why I keep Netflix.

Yeah those are usually clickbaity except for the one for The Green Knight.

One thing at the end I appreciated in terms of the approach to religion was how at the end right before everyone dies they all seek comfort in their faith outside the church whether that is through the Islamic prayer, through song or through love for each other, while the person who has none of that faith aside from the militant dogma just dies miserably, because at the end of the day it doesnt mean anything without love.

I liked that as well. I also found it very interesting that a scientific explanation for the vampires was presented in a show that centered so much on religion. The irony there is that vampires are often seen as one of the more supernatural creatures and are often tied closely to religion (crosses and holy water ward them off, etc.).
