I feel like this is the game that gave Layton games the "LOL ending is bad" reputation. Definitely the weakest of the ones I've played.

I thought it was just ok which is the problem with Professor Tintin and his adventures. Docking points for twist being quite terrible.

Layton's third game was the highlight of the series but I had like absolutely zero desire to touch another one of his games after that. The story and characters are straight out of a children's book and I don't know how I was actually able to stomach it for 3 games.

Oh I played this one! It's the only Layton I have played and it completely put me off of trying any of the others. That said I have absolutely zero memory of any of the plot so can't rate >_> It wasn't good, though.

The ending, which is to say the resolution of the mysteries in this game, is basically a giant cop-out, but the rest of it's alright, including the rest of the ending imo, since the emotional payoff with Anton and Katia mostly works.

I love the Layton series, but holy crap were the plots twists in this one super weird. I remember just staring at my DS going "...huh?".

However it gets bumped up to a 3 because it's not even the weirdest Layton plot in the franchise.

Man I dunno I feel like the Layton games twists get too much hate on hindesight
But they are pretty enjoyable while playing for the first time and knowing the "laws of the world"
Meaning no magic, but something that can be explained by science, even if it's super improbable, like in Unwound Future building a replica of London underground without the surface knowing

7/10 I guess
