I cannot count the times I was excited for a game and then once it is released I do not purchase it or even care anymore.

Is anyone like this or are you all still real gamers.

I'm kind of like this. In my situation, I blame No Man's Sky. I was so disappointed by that game that it's been hard to be excited about games since.

I don't really play games anymore. I think I'm down to 2 series that are still in active development (Trails and Pokemon).

i absolutely cannot tell you what the story is, or who most of the characters names are, it was that meaningless.

For some reason I have trouble starting and finishing new games, but I have no problem playing through shit I've already played a million times like Super Mario 64 or Donkey Kong Country 2. The last time I finished a game I hadn't already played was when I played Resident Evil 4 and 1 (PS1) a year ago. And before that it was Metal Gear Solid in 2019.

This is why I sometimes I "save" games that pushes a lot of my gamer buttons. When I feel disillusioned or burnt out by this hobby, and play something just amazing that rekindles the passion.

Next best thing are games with widespread critical acclaim, and keep myself in a dark about the details besides the name. Because the things great design and love can do is also a rekindler.

I've not felt the need to rush out and buy a game day one for a while and have a backlog of games. I just don't game all that much at the moment.
