Let's say that an entire alien fleet suddenly appears around Earth, completely surrounding the planet. Several ships touch down across the planet, and the invaders assassinate various world leaders, before declaring that Earth now belongs to them, and that the human race will now be their slaves. Obviously, there would be worldwide panic, but there may also be some who will try to fight back against the aliens.

Would you personally join the resistance against them, even if it would be an extreme uphill battle in light of their far-superior technologies?

Who the fuck would go toe to toe against them without sizing them up first?

You obviously need to be studying their attack patterns, looking for weaknesses, and gathering your loved ones to keep them safe and out of sight.

There would have to be something here they want.
If there the aliens want something, then they would likely start with diplomacy. If this fails and the aliens invade, then they will likely not risk their lives and attack from a distance.

If the aliens are studying us, then we would study them back. If the aliens are invading us, then we would fight back and hurt them somewhat. This leads me to assume an intelligent race would not risk lives and instead attack from afar.
