holyyyyy yessssss, since JP release and all this was looking hopeless (although there was a survey a few weeks ago that had a question on it for the series future) but they mad men actually got it done for RF5 yessss

honestly I was becoming unsure if I'd play RF5 while this wasn't looking likely, but now it's a definite must-by hell yes

All characters bi is a great way to do this. Maximizes player enjoyment for a minimum of developer effort.

pretty much, everyone gets to be who they want with who they want and gives devs a lot less work having to specialize their scenarios

is it unrealistic? sure, as is a lot features to the series, including the relationships without even considering sexual orientations

Like yeah it's great to have characters written to be a distinctly gay or bi character with a story touching upon their identity.... but Rune Factory's never been that kinda game, it's a much simpler harem factory and always has been. It's hard to take anyone seriously complaining this as a unique change to Rune Factory brought upon by same-sex marriage. It's not like you've ever had to consider a bachelor or bachelorette's previous relationship history in a Rune Factory before.

Huh, all the marriages are animated cutscenes? That makes it more impressive considering they had to do more than just change a couple of variables.

I feel like it's not even that every character is bi. It's just every character is what you want them to be. They can all be straight or gay depending on you. (Unless you can get them to hook up with both sexes in the same playthrough...which would be pretty dope)

Great to see and the blog post XSEED posted about the process is really fascinating. It's basically happening because they asked about it during localization and came up with a workflow for it. There was a lot of work that had to go into it to get this done. Based as hell.

Really? This was the pivot point turning you from "maybe not" to "day one buy"?

I dunno, it feels to me like the equivalent of someone suddenly deciding to buy a car because it offers mood lighting.

Really cool to see they added this, I wouldn't have expected this to occur after the original release didn't include it. Good on XSEED for asking about it and I'm glad the staff at Marvelous they talked to were open and receptive to it.

yes as a trans woman I'm utterly uncomfortable with having to represent myself with a male character to get with bachelorettes I want to choose from. it's something I've put up with for a while but I've grown tired of and it just turns me off

Diff'rent Strokes to move the world, I guess. I never saw marriage as anything but a side activity. I was much more concerned with the change to a 3D camera and how that would affect the battle system.

Cool.

Never played the Rune Factory games but I'm always down for this sort of thing.

Completely with you on this even though I'm bisexual and haven't played rune factory, having fun with romance options being a thing that only straight people get to do can get really frustrating and alienating
