I'm sure part of it is just mad cuz bad, but the random events just don't seem like you can predict them and that annoys me. Like there's one where you look into the Great Zoltan Eye. Once it gave me a pretty great weapon. Once it spawned a Zoltan ship to fight me. And once it killed a crewmate. There's nothing you can do to influence this other than not rolling the dice at all.

Yes. I first started using this username when I was like 12 and I copied it from the guy off Yugioh. Liked the character, didn't know how to spell it.

This is my situation exactly. I'm terrible at it, and I want to like it but it's so fucking frustrating to randomly get screwed at any point or to do amazingly and just get absolutely buttstomped at the end no matter what.

The music was the only thing that kept me going at all lol

It's called a random event for a reason lol your taking a gamble every time.

No, I get it. I just don't like it. I like rogue-likes, but ones where skill can mitigate the randomness. Like there was a point where I could complete a Binding of Isaac run regardless of the items I got. I don't see that happening with FTL.

Yeah FTL is pretty hard. Jsut got to be prepared for whatever comes. Don't expect a awesome weapon and always expect trouble. But yeah it took me a while to get into it too. I also wanted to unlock all the ships but I dislike soe of the later ships. And in order to unlock others you have to win with the previous ship.

Thats part of the roguelike genre. Fortune favours the bold, roll with what you got, and minimise the chance lady luck screws you over

FTL is one of my favorite games ever, but I can see not liking that sort of thing. I'll do a bit of fanboy defense and say that every run is winnable, but you need to know the game pretty well already to win consistently. Some streamer did hardmode with a 50+ streak.

That's the thing though, I don't see how you minimize risk other than not trying these options out. And if you don't try the options out, you don't get the rewards you need to stop the rebel flagship from stomping you into the ground.

I mena, if you ahve the weaponry knocking out the oxygen cans get you a lot more then just a good weapon.

I usually hate randomness that you can't account for, but FTL and Rimworld are exceptions to that. Something about wacky shit happening and just fucking you over in the most ridiculous way possible is still entertaining to me
