Sony: Why would you want that when you can pay $70 for individual games instead?

Oh shit, good for them. The delay must have been worth it.

It's not my cup of tea, I don't care about super polished high concept FPS experiences - like there was a glorious period of my life around 2010 where my favorite FPS was AssaultCube, and right now I'm playing Doom 64 with plans to play Quake and Duke Nukem 3D after that - but I can certainly respect a good game getting the credit it deserves.

Sony are really desperate to get that $70 price tag to stick. It's why they tried to sneak in removing upgrades for upcoming crossgen games.

If they aren't even willing to reward players for being loyal to them I doubt they're gonna come up with a compelling Game Pass competitor anytime soon. They aren't even willing to give a next gen patch for Uncharted for free.

It's more of an immersive sim than a typical shooter if that makes a difference.

Sony needs to do a gamepass style subscription based service psnow sucks
PS Now is the exact same services aside from the fact that it's all older games isn't it? Plus + Now retail for cheaper then gamepass does it not? And yes I realize gamepass goes on sale all the time but still I'm comparing full MSRP for the sake of argument. I'd love it if Sony competed and we got first party /exclusives day 1 but it's not like what they're offering instead is horrible.

PS Now streams video of the games, which almost inevitably means button latency and fidelity downgrades if the internet connection is bad. Game Pass lets you download the game and run it on actual hardware, meaning that in the event of the internet going down you can still play it, and the only latency issues are confined to hardware and software issues, not visual lag.

PS Now has improved somewhat, but that's still a fatal flaw with the service. Game Pass runs the games natively. PS Now streams video of the game to you as you play it.

Sure but it's also why Sony refuse to do free upgrades and also why Playstation Now is always gonna suck in comparison. Even if they delayed games for like a year to put on the service it means less people are gonna pay $70. So instead it's gonna be a half-assed secondary thing like the Vita was.

Only played the first area up until you're told you should leave the first area. The first scene was a little jarring as an introduction but it quickly made sense lol game is really cool so far and I've not even scratched the surface.

I surprisingly enjoy Julianna talking through the controller. the speaker on the Dualsense fucking rocks compared to the DS4. I do wish I bought it on PC though because aiming is extremely finicky especially when going for headshot kills with the nail gun.

Yeah playing Ghost of Tsushima on the PS5 and the speaker is indeed a huge improvement. Actually pretty cool when it catches you off guard sometimes.

Thought I might have to refund it after seeing the Steam version has issues, but I've not encountered any after playing it for just over two hours. I've not unlocked any of the abilities yet though - I know from the trailer you get some kinda telekinesis - so maybe that'll change.

Honestly very surprised that it is so Dishonored-like. The trailers made it look like a straight FPS, but you kind of have to play semi-stealthily because Colt's extremely fragile. Again, maybe that'll change once I've unlocked some stuff.

My only complaint so far is that the weapon system isn't super intuitive. And that I almost completed that armory sidequest in the second mission, but I blew up a battery by trying to be overly clever.

From the X-Play review I watched, that seems exactly how the game evolves. Once you kill your first primary target you start gaining abilities that make you more powerful and the "Death Loop" less of a punishment.

Because "gamers are being targeted". And they bitch about everything. Games used to take 3-4 years or less to make, now they take like 7-10 and everything is padded out to be some 40 hour epic with full voice acting and motion capture. Yet gamers insist on the 60 dollar price tag and trash the very idea of dlc and micro transactions. Not to say they would happen eventually, but gamers are absolutely to blame for the speed in which gaming adapted this practice.

Ran into my first progress losing glitch so far. Still early on probably at the tail end of the prologue, but I opened up the menu to look at a note that disappeared too quick on the screen and for whatever reason the menu between choosing areas popped up on top of the in mission menu. Couldn't back out of it. Had to close the game and lost about 30-45 minutes of progress

Also, weren't games like 70 or 80 bucks on the 64?

Because it costs basically nothing to sell additional copies, so while the price of the game has remained static the number of copies being sold has increased dramatically.

For a number of years call of duty was regularly pulling in a billion dollars in sales in its opening weekend. That's not something that would have happened in the PS1 era.

After playing for like six hours, I feel like I've actually started the game lol. Unlocked the ability to retain upgrades.

It's definitely more rogue-like than I expected. I kinda genuinely have no idea what to do now which is kind of nice.
