you floss first to get all of the crap out of your teeth and loosen anything else up

then you brush to clean your teeth and get all of the loosened stuff

then you use mouthwash to freshen your breath and clean through all of the freshly cleared gaps in your teeth

floss to jar stuck-in stuff loose
brush to clean teeth and wash away plaque
mouthwash for....idk, good breath. Mouthwash is largely useless. At this stage, you should be swishing a fluoride rinse if your dentist recommends it. otherwise, nothing

You're not supposed to rinse/mouthwash immediately after you brush because that dilutes and washes away all the flouride from the toothpaste meant to protect your teeth. Mouthwash also contains way less flouride than your toothpaste.

Nah, mouthwash before you brush and dont rinse your mouth with anything after you brush.

I personally go:

Floss
Brush
Mouthwash

My dental hygienist always flosses at the very last step, after the cleaning though. She obviously knows more than I do.

My last trip to the dentist didn't go as well as I would have liked. I did some research on mouthwash and it actually might not be as good as it sounds for fighting cavities. The fluoride content in your toothpaste is much stronger so it's actually better to not rinse your mouth out afterwards. The mouthwash can still be used in the middle of the day for a quick cleaning, or 30 minutes after brushing. That is the new method I'm going to try.

Pre-rinse mouthwash
Floss
Brush (Spit only, no rinsing out afterwards)

All you need to do is spit out the excess, you want to leave whats left of the toothpaste on your teeth for the flouride.

Flouride mouthwash usually contains far less flouride than toothpaste does.

Flossing seems to make the most sense first.

How?

Everybody does a basic brush. Its the first thing you do and learn. Mouthwash and flossing could be a followup for second, but if mouthwash is primarily for freshening breath and/or removing bacteria, then it should follow flossing, which removes bacteria first (and anything missed during the initial brush) in order to complete the perfect dental trifecta.

Just went to the dentist after not having gone since the beginning of the pandemic... no cavities. Mouthwash is good for a quick breath freshener and that's about it.

I'm not thinking about things too hard but I kinda look at it as, flossing gets the big stuff out. Brushing wipes off most of the remainder. And mouthwash then has the final clear shot at disinfecting the unseeable stuff.

This is assuming 1 of each max, and no giant time gaps. Maybe a tiny gap between brush and wash.

Brush then floss. My understanding is flossing is like brushing the sides of the teeth.

I used to mouth wash but idk if it does anything. I've never had teeth issues without it.

In the morning(I don't eat breakfast), I brush, floss, then half an hour to an hour later I use mouth wash. After lunch, and before bed, it's floss, mouth wash, then brush. It's important not to rinse your mouth out, or drink anything for at least half an hour after brushing, so your teeth can absorb the fluoride from the toothpaste.
