Anyway this was what I posted in that Op: Just looking at it, I have some gut reactions: 1) seeding is absolute fucking trash. How are ALL of your 1 seeds and most of the 2s gonna crash and burn by R2? Feels like IGN has 0 grasp of what their readers are actually interested in; Journey as a 2 seed makes me wonder if this was run through RNG. 2) there's like 0 rhyme or reason to the winners so far. Zoomers have kinda been running circles around 'boomers' (Burnout 3 > Chrono Trigger, Apex > Super Metroid... yikes) but then you see stuff like San Andreas > RDR, WoW > Fortnite, or Mario 3 wrecking shit in general, and it makes me scratch my head. Definitely different from GFaqs in that Nintendo is really poorly, with Mario 3 and BotW being the only quarterfinalists (and against each other at that); JRPGs got btfo with P5, FFVII, and CT getting wrecked in R1 and Pokemon losing in R2. Then there's just random shit like RotTR beating Half Life 2 or Skyrim vs ACIV being a 58-42 match that doesn't make much sense from any lense. If I'd tried to make a bracket for this tournament I'd have been slaughtered lol. I suppose CoD isn't as memetically hated as much as it once was nowadays, but still. World of Warcraft winning its fourpack elicited similar reactions from me. I was under the impression the game was subject to a lot of hype backlash due to its popularity in similar fashion to stuff like GTA and Halo. Results like Burnout > Chrono Trigger and especially Apex Legends > Super Metroid sadden me somewhat and the latter especially feels like holding a best movies contest where Taxi Driver is a 1 seed and gets offed in Round 1 by some 2010s movie. In the end though, let people like what they want to like.
