Actually, no, there are definitely spin-off titles in the franchise, some of which are basically akin to FF Dissidia, iirc.

Oh right those. I forgot about them because they have never been localized.

Helly was saying that games like Legendia are spinoffs. It seems any of them with a subtitle are main games.

Don't know yet. Might be like Vesperia where some costumes changes artes.

I ended up trying the demo. There's a lot going on with that battle system. I assume it drops you in the deep end to get a full idea of the mechanics, but it's a lot all at once.

Yes, the dlc costumes come with unique artes, though it remains to be seen if those artes can be unlocked in other ways

The ones in Vesperia just changed an arte you already had. Don't know if these are different than that. Though you could level them up and keep them I think.

Looking through it now. Most of those packs are useless to buy since all of that stuff would be available in the grade shop. But yeah on some of them it shows about learning new artes in the descriptions of the DLC. They split them up for no reason so it's 8 packs of learnable artes at $5 each.

Looking at the plot and world building, in the first few hours alone, and I'm getting a lot of beats and points from Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archives. It's not to the point of plagiarism, but we do have bright eyed folks with powers derived from gem-like objects, some among their number who wear ridiculously massive armor, a main character who wears a lot of blue and is introduced to us with a slave bra-- I mean iron mask on his face that other slaves don't seem to have on their faces; and said mc is miraculously OP because of reasons that can be guessed a mile away.

When Tales games drop hints about their own upcoming plot twists, they aren't exactly known for being subtle. Like, there's foreshadowing, and then there's projecting on a giant screen for all to see.

I've seen the whole story and a fair amount of gameplay. The music is good, but it often drowns out everything else. The story starts good, but goes downhill imo after you beat the fifth lord the first time, and the gameplay is solid like as though they built on some aspects of Berseria's combat and toned down Xillia 2's animal collecting while exploring areas. It may be a while before I feel the need to buy my own copy of the game and play it, which is well with all else I have going on right now, game-wise.
