What is Game of the Month Club?
Game of the Month is a community project open to all B8ers where users share, discover, play and/or discuss a select few games every month. The games featured each month are chosen by YOU the users (and Lady Luck)

The Basics
- Each month will usually feature three games that were chosen via a random drawing from a pool of games that users nominated
- For each game you beat, you get a cool point on our just-for-fun standings as well as a nomination for next month's randomized drawing
- In order to receive the point and nomination, you must beat said game within the calendar month
- If you beat one of the current month's games in the previous month, you can apply for a "recently beaten waiver," but you will only receive a point and no nomination should you do so
- Drawing for next month's games is around a week before the end of the month
- If you periodically keep us posted on your progress and/or talk about different aspects of the games, then everyone will think you are super awesome!

Nomination Rules
- You get one nomination automatically each month
- You receive additional nominations each month for every featured game that you beat
- Each game you nominate has to be unique from all other nominations and cannot include a game that has already been selected for GotM
- Each game must be a standalone game that can be acquired and played on its own (aka cannot be DLC/expansion that requires the base game)
- Nominations only carry over if you beat a featured game after the drawing for next month's games but before the end of the month
- As a special feature for 2021, you have 11 supports you can use throughout the year. Your only limitations are that you can't support your own nomination, and you can only use one support per game per month

I have gone through five or six levels in Impossible Lair, including a couple of alternate versions. I was underwhelmed at first, but some of the more recent levels that I have played have impressed me. I'm not sure how I feel about the overworld yet. I'm tempted to try the titular level just because. Maybe I can actually beat it with only a handful of bees to protect!

Well, trying the titular level with just six bees was catastrophic. I've gone through each alternative level if I found a way to unlock it, so I am up to 15 bees now as I will unlock the third paywall.

I keep saying to myself that I will start Wargroove, but maybe tomorrow.

I'm about halfway done with Yooka-Laylee, 21 bees. That amount of bees let me get 25% of the way through the impossible lair. >_> But yeah, I'll go play more regular stages.

Started wargroove this morning. Finished the Act 1 story missions.

Is there any in-game reward for S-ranks (other than achievements, probably?) I'm enjoying the bit I've played so far but don't see me ever going back to turn my A ranks to S ranks.

I tried the Impossible Lair again with 20 bees and actually made it a third of the way before dying to a careless mistake when I panicked trying to grab Laylee.

I'm up to Act 2 in Wargroove. I unlocked a side mission, so I might try that out first. I'm a little worried about how challenging the game might end up because the game is still a pseudo-tutorial at this point, and just two missions ago, I got a C. In my defense, I planned my entire mission around simply transporting the civilians until they abruptly told me I had to get Mercia to the safe zone when I had her thick in my defensive formation surrounded by enemies.

I tried the Impossible Lair again, and I think that I made it to 49%. I'm up to 29 or so bees, and I have opened up all the worlds, so I'm thinking about grabbing a few more bees, attempt the lair from the beginning, and seeing if I can get a good checkpoint marker to resume from. My old marker is at 12 bees, so I feel like I should easily be able to double that with another fresh attempt.

I am now up to 42 bees in Yooka, and they are from both versions of each chapter in the beach area. I spent a good chunk today going around trying to find as many tonics as I could, only to find out that I couldn't use tonics on the Impossible Lair. Great. I feel like I should just go for all 48 bees, try the lair from the beginning again, and go from there as my previous nine attempts have yet to reach the halfway mark.

I played Impossible Lair a few months back. I thought it was a VAST improvement over the first game (which I thought was pretty bad). I enjoyed many of the individual stages and exploring the overworld. But I cared nothing for the titular Impossible Lair stage. I think I tried it about 3 times and said "I'm good, moving on".

Stage 2 gave me the most trouble when I played it. The checkpoint system they added really did help.

KCF has beaten Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair

So I was encouraged by that 40 mark for stage 2, and I wanted to give it another go from that point to give me a much better mark than 11 for Stage 3. Well, I had 29 bees remaining for Stage 3, then I had around 15 for what was apparently the final boss. I had around half a dozen for the final escape sequence, and ultimately finished it with I thought plenty of time left.

I'm not sure which of the two games I prefer, but I do think that Impossible Lair was a better DKC game than Yooka-Layee was a Banjo-Kazooie game, if that makes sense.

I have 171 T.W.I.T. coins, so I think that I am going to stick with it and try to get them all. I do remember trying and failing to get a single coin about 20 times. It was during the final auto-scrolling sequence on Scareship Scroll.

ArkOfTurus has beaten The Great Ace Attorney 2

I said GAA1 wasn't a top tier Ace Attorney game, but I think this one was. It did feel like the second half (well, 2/3, really) of that game, although I understand why they had to make it two games (I think 2 might have been the longest game in the series as is.) All of the set-up from 1 paid off quite well, and I enjoyed the game from start to finish. I think this is my game of the year so far, while GAA1 would only be 6th or something.

I don't know if I'll get back to Wargroove or not. Wasn't really feeling it.

I did the first couple missions of Wargroove but haven't gone back to it. One thing I can say is it really assumes early on that it's your first ever strategy game and there's no way around this

Kind of behind where I'm wanting to be to finish before the end of the month. I finished Case 2, and in the first trial part of case 3. Will keep on playing tonight until the battery runs low.

I really need to get back to Wargroove. I just know that like its inspiration Advance Wars, I really needed to do each battle in its entirety, so I have trouble finding the motivation to really sit down and ensure that I see a mission through to its end in one sitting.

I think that I am going to pass on the side missions for now and focus on the main ones in Wargroove to ensure that I finish it this month. I am currently in Act 3. After kind of fumbling through the fog of war missions in Act 2, it felt good to having a good strategy to crush the opposition thus far in Act 3.

I would find Ragna less obnoxious if they didn't have any voice work for this game.
