What are women named Karen supposed to do? Start hating their own name because a bunch of angry juveniles say their name is a bad word now?

"Well, I used to like my name, but all the angry juveniles say it's a bad word, so I guess I'll hate it now."

It literally started as a way to insult White women

It was a way to insult women who were entitled and constantly wanted to give grievances to people higher up the management line.

These individuals commonly being white was coincidental. Racism had nothing to do with the original usage either. Thats just what became of it being overused.

It was neither. It was just used as a general insult, not about any specific behavior. But the actual origin of it being used as an insult is even dumber than you might realize.

I mean, for one, you don't have two be on one side of liking, or hating a thing. But two, yeah, I guess they'll just have to change their names now. Kind of disappointing that the internet has seemingly ruined it.

I started seeing it pop up as just joking situations involving a fictional, made-up divorced wife for that Harold meme. Commonly saying stuff like, "Karen took the kids." "Goddamnit Karen" "Karen took everything in the divorce" etc. And somehow... it blew up from there because while fun to use a random name for a fictional situation as a joke post, nobody on the internet has any imagination and instead of using a name at random, they just kept using the name "Karen" over and over for these kinds of posts, and eventually, it just started being used as a negative term just in general. But it's pretty stupid and nonsensical. I saw a post citing how the name "Karen" had been used less often for newborns recently, and everyone was celebrating that there were now "less Karens in the world".

I first heard Karen in the early 2000s as a bitch in HR who was trying to write up, fire or otherwise serve someone's head on a platter. By the mid 2010s it became apparent there were these types in public spaces. With the proliferation of smartphones the phenomena became more widely known in the 2020s as Karens displayed their bitchcraft.

No. I heard and used the term 10 years before your scenario. And actually, a group did unconsciously decide "we're gonna use it as an insult now". The current use is closer to the usage I have described. The shit you described is more clueless than can even be made up.

It goes back to the days of Becky and Stacy. Karen, Becky and Stacy are race neutral insults, but the camera doesn't lie and a lot of white women have been captured exhibiting the behavior.

People who think Karen began as a racist term can't be serious

It's an insult for people who act a certain way. It isn't and has never been related to race.

Karen became a general term for people who act like those who were given nicknames like:
  • BBQ Becky
  • Pool Patrol Paula
  • Cornerstore Caroline
  • South Park Susan
  • Golfcart Gail
  • Permit Patty
  • Coupon Carl

Yes, anyone with an entitled personality that asks to go see a manager because they can't get what they want gets labeled as a Karen, even guys do as well. Not all Karens are Karens just like not all Chads are actual Chads.

Honestly, the only reason the Karen meme continues to be relevant because the majority of the people acting like Karens never had to work in customer service in their life, because if they did they would not act the way they do. There was a paper stating that Millenials and Zoomers are actually much nicer to workers than Gen X'ers and especially Boomers because most of us knows what its like to deal with crap like this.

If anything the reason its often associated specifically with white women is because white people make up the majority of the U.S. population so there are naturally going to be more instances where the Karen happens to be white.

The black family did nothing wrong. Hell, they EVEN INVITED THE NEIGHBORHOOD to their BBQ.

But that Becky was having NONE of it.
