Just made a handheld Switch console that you can buy every old game digitally from their store and higher than warranted prices but not too absurd. Just put everything into the digital store from the NES to the N64 to the GBA to the Wii U. Just everything. You can have any game you want, as long as Nintendo can get it, portably which would be awesome. Keep making new consoles and make the previous console backwards compatible. Just do that over and over and you are set. Having any Nintendo game you want at your fingertips that is easy to access will just be a permanent money printer. Plus, people tend to not illegally download media/games if it is easy to access legally.

This will never happen of course. I would love having Super Smash Bros. Melee, Mario Kart 64, Golden Sun Trilogy and Fire Emblem Path of Radiance all on the go on 1 device. Come on Nintendo. Do it. Plus, it would always be worth buying the new console for the new games

$15 / month for tons of classic games. They'd make an absolute killing.

This months update to the classic list is NES Ping Pong from 1990! Why arent you all excited?

They have a very outspoken community and they own their own games, so theres no excuse for this.

Honestly fuck Nintendo, they are the apple of gaming in the worst way possible.

This is typically the sticking point.

The other is emulating it to the point of their satisfaction.

EDIT: Oh and don't forget how much work your own sense of nostalgia is doing to push the old games.

Im not a fanboy though. I did buy the Swich but that is the only Nintendo console I have bought with my own money in my life and Im 32. I did buy the 3ds if that counts. I had the Wii but that was a gift I was surprised to get. I never had a GameCube and the NES/SNES/N64/GBC/GBA/DS were all gifts I got as a child/teen. No Wii U either.

Also just putting their music on Spotify lol. That's easy money yet they don't go it because...uhhh...I guess they think people actually walk using Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Smash Bros Ultimate as their music players?

Unfortunately, Nintendo is well known for:

  1. Not offering complete classic games libraries; theres always something big missing
  2. Tying online services to specific consoles. If they released a new console after the release of this service, the newer console likely wont have access to it.
  3. Shutting down online services prematurely.
In order for your idea to exist, theyd have to break all of these patterns. I dont believe theres any chance of that happening.

Yes, it is against the terms of service. Do not use the boards to set up orgies.

Like I'll just say it simply. The reason Nintendo Switch Online doesn't have a ton of the great classic games even to the level of the old Wii Shop is because they don't own them.

The Wii Shop was an absolute godsend for its time because Nintendo capitalized on most of those other companies not caring so much and allowing their games on the old service. Then they noticed there was a market for them.

Now the companies are releasing their own games themselves because they know there's bank to be made. Mega Man collections. Street Fighter collections. Castlevania collections. Hey, Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters even.

Nintendo's good stuff that they can get is already up there.

We're still missing GB, GBC, GBA and N64. I think the Switch could emulate the Gamecube, DS, 3DS and Wii if they really wanted to as well.

There's plenty they could still do even with their first party stuff.

Again, it's a case of it they consider it worth the effort. Also they won't emulate DS or 3DS games because they still sell 3DS's.

switch has SNES online (though it had shitty DMR or whatever you call when you need to connect to the internet to play) and you can buy neo geo games.

if Nintendo added GB games and sega added GG again and maybe genesis and 32x itd be unstoppable

Quite a lot honestly.

Metroid Fusion topped the Wii U chart recently for example. That game is finally getting a sequel rather soon and Nintendo could easily add it to Nintendo Online.

GBA, Nintendo 64 and Gamecube would get people very excited. Gamecube has plenty of games that are a pain to play that won't get ported.

he may have a point.

how many times can they sell OoT, MM, WW, etc over and over? We got the NES mini, SNES mini, and Id not be surprised if at some point they offer a gameboy mini too (though not really mini, just a gameboy shell preloaded with GB games).

then they had the virtual console and eshop and now SNES online.

they can resell the same thing over and over, and offering us a all in one portable with all of it may hamper that

Wii U is a dead platform with only 14 million consoles out there.

There's no reason we can't see the same VC games on there available on Switch at the very least.

Eh considering how often this issue comes up and how valuable Nintendo's games are over time I don't think it really adds up.

Lets be real. The only reason Nintendo doesn't do more is because they think re-releasing or remaking games for a premium is more valuable. We just saw them re-release a collection of two NES games for a limited time. It's the same reason why Sony barely bothers.

On the subject of music, this is true. Nintendo music sitting in their vault is unfortunate and nigh Disney-like.

Or to put it another way, they have released their music, but they packaged a little something around the music called Super Smash Brothers Ultimate and are asking a game's price for the pleasure. I'd hate to think that's their method.

while a lot of their decisions are definitely due to greed, I'm inclined to believe that their refusal to release OSTs is moreso because they see it as part of the game and that it should only be listened to with the game, kinda in a weird pride way. Reminds me of when Sakurai said that he considered SSBB's SSE cutscenes as rewards for clearing stages and complained about people uploading them on youtube
