Anyone in RYCEY? Rolls Royce (the plane engines not the cars)

Somehow they turned a profit this year-half way ahead of schedule according to their ER last night (this morning in London). Everyone was expecting them to continue losing money due to lack of travel but I guess the outlook is better than expected. They are up about 5% today.

I'm not worried about it. But I'm also still up on it. The drop seems like an extreme overreaction to me, a good buying opportunity, but just like with PINS, I have no money.

Still seems like a really good stock going forward, even if you're down a lot right now.

Got slammed by ROKU this AM, but Im holding my shares forever and have been through far worse drops, so no biggie. Its already recovering nicely.

I am buying the shit out of HOOD if it significantly dips again, idgaf what anyone says. I already regret not buying more at the initial IPO dip.

They blew away their earnings. I'm constantly surprised at when this happens. I sold some puts now since I think it's going to go back up. CRSR didn't even meet expectations for earnings but it has been recovering since the drop. My number one target is UWMC. I have a feeling that will drop dramatically after earnings, so I'll be selling puts on that too (or outright buying shares if it drops low enough).

Because the price of SLVO dropped about 6.33% in the last month. How does that compare with the dividends you're getting?

You mean the price of a stock/ETN can fluctuate?! To answer your question, the last dividend I received was $271.36 while the market value dropped by $1007.93. While that can seem bleak at face value, buying low is smarter than FOMOing in when the price is high.

Better vaccine? They have to reconstitute, had to use a deep freezer, etc.

It's been changed IIRC. The deep freezer was just them being extra cautious in the beginning. They both fit into a regular freezer now.

It still has a shorter shelf life once defrosted however.

Oof

SLVO paying $0.0504/share this month, LOL

That would mean $256 for me

Considering putting money in something that will actually grow instead of hoping the payment goes back up.

Decisions, decisions. Probably not gonna do anything right away... Might make a move if it goes back up to $6 or so

Yeah, I think I've gotta cut my losses here. I don't realistically see it going back to to $6. Gonna pay some stuff off and probably move most of it into VTSAX, VTI, and something else. Maybe jump back into TSLA

You're right, there's no way it could raise by $0.43. It's time to cut your losses and panic sell.

Stocks fluctuate. $6 is not some far off possibility.

By all means, get out. I'm going to reduce my position to 1300 shares myself...once it hits $6.30, so I profit.

Microsoft has a better dividend / profit ratio. T has been essentially the same price for a thousand years. Microsoft pays great dividends and keeps increasing in value at the same time.

The practical differences I've seen:
  • VTSAX is a mutual fund. You have to buy in with $3000, and when you put an order in, it only executes after market close that day. After you've bought in, you can continue to buy with as much or as little as you want.
  • With VTI, you just buy shares like any other stock.

Yeah I've looked into mutual funds and etf differences before and I just don't know that it matters much for a retirement fund you just put money in every month at the same time. I guess if you want to trade at current price them go etf.

I compared a few vanguard funds and found no difference in performance or fees (maybe a .01% difference if any)
