Sell it. Why would I give a million dollar plus item for free to a multi millionaire? I would keep that shit and I would basically sprint out of the stadium before security could catch me.

It would be completely stupid to give up your chance at not being poor so a rich guy could have a mantelpiece item.

Its a big moment for them, and it would be nice for them to have something to remind them of their accomplishment.

I'd at least ask to meet the player. Secretly hoping for a reward but I wouldn't ask for money or anything.

I think several million dollars is worth more to a regular Joe than a physical trophy is worth to someone who can afford to buy it from you.

The stadium staff would probably try to give you tickets to one game for free or something.

Although yeah, even if youre really materialistic, the batter would likely give you a signed bat or something that would still be worth a bundle

Depends.

Giving it back could look classy but yet can make one look like a ass.

Seen where balls are tossed back because the person didn't want anything to do with it.

i would get bids on the open market. I'd offer it to the player at a minor discount. Say its turns out to be worth $2.2M. Sell it to the player for $1.5M and a shit ton of signed stuff from him (like signed game worn [hopefully playoffs]), jerseys hats, gloves, bats, shoes, cups, socks, whatever, along with a few team signed balls and bats, or $2M straight.

I'd give it back, I know in baseball especially, they typically let the fan meet the player and give it back to him in person, give him some signed balls, bats, and season tickets.

lol, you don't have to do any of that. the ball is yours to keep, they can't do a damn thing to you. but security will try to catch you only to negotiate with you, but usually these negotiations boils down to "Hey, can you give us the ball? You'll get free tickets and a signed autographed bat and jersey from the player. :)" you can say no if you feel like you can get a better offer selling it online or something.

also I'm not a huge fan of baseball but are these historic balls even worth that much? idk if there's anything that was valued more than this but barry bond's 756 home run ball sold for 750,000 dollars. i can't imagine any other ball would be worth more than the all time home run record ball lol

I picked depends since it always does depends, but if history repeats itself then it's usually better financially for you to keep the ball and sell it. Usually teams and the player will negotiate and try to give you season seats, signed baseballs/bats/jerseys/memorabilia but all those things put together usually isn't worth more than what other fans will pay to get it.

Depends on the historic. If it is a million dollar ball than ya sell, unless the team is going to give me prime lifetime seats to make it worth considering

Otherwise give it to the player for some other memorabilia and the chance to meet and talk with the player.

But I don't sit in outfield seats so it will never happen. There's no historic capacity for ball fouled behind home plate

So you'd sprint out of the stadium without anyone authenticating it? Your ball is worth nothing now
