So I've been without laptop for a few years now. My wife has wanted one for the longest time, and since she will soon start taking classes, I believe now is the perfect time to surprise her with one.

I don't know much about product specifications for electronics, I need help choosing a good one for a good price. I've been looking at this one, and I think it looks good:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KGZ79N6/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_QQ30PQFVSGHST2CGTCGR

She will basically only use it to watch streaming services, browse social media, and a few class related assignments with Microsoft Office.

Is that one good? Thought and recommendations are highly appreciated.

Forgot to mention in OP: her niece has a touchscreen laptop and she would definitely like hers to be like that too. Hence the one I linked to.

If that's all she's doing I'd get an ipad or something

That's a solid computer, it would definitely be able to handle the things you mentioned. If the use case is that simple though, a Chromebook could also be a good cheap alternative.

Even though she would mostly use the laptop's touchscreen, she isn't really the tablet type.

Is there a good one you could recommend? @BlackDra90n

I don't know any models but they're generally simpler devices so it's more about the misc functions they have rather than the hardware. Would be worth just taking a look and seeing if it's something that looks like it would be a good fit.

I'm not a tech guy at all, but if you're just browsing the internet, streaming, and using office, it doesn't matter all that much. I would definitely recommend getting something with an SSD if possible, the difference is massive.

I just swapped the HDD in my 5 year old laptop to an SSD and it's like I have a brand new machine. I don't have a desktop so this is literally the fastest I've ever had a computer perform for me.

The one I posted says "256 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD", so I assume this is what you mean.

NVMe drives are even faster than regular SSDs, so that one is already great.
