Be pretty weird since I didn't attend college. That's like making fun of someone who gets sex. I don't get the sex.

no. its a way to get the same classes for cheaper. bachelors degrees are fucked anyway with all the classes you have to take that have nothing to do with your major.

I will say: I'd still encourage anyone for whom money is not an issue (either family is well-off or they have scholarships/grants that cover the full amount) to go to a 4-year for the full time, as I do believe the quality of education is better than at a community college, and the connections you make both in the institution and within your major are invaluable and better than most transfer students get, but YMMV.

Universities are not degree mills, and a robust general education curriculum is vital for an informed citizenry.

what has it done for america? just having people sit in class learning info they won't use and not out in the workforce. bring back trades.

A knowledge of history, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively and identify misleading rhetoric, a familiarity with and acceptance of other languages and cultures, a knowledge of basic science, these are all essential things and will be used "in the workforce" and life in general.

This has nothing to do with general ed in academe. Go to a trade school if you want that experience.

No, it's a hell of a lot smarter if you're paying your tuition to go to a cheaper school for a lot of credit hours instead of racking up a ton of debt to take the same classes at a 4 year school.

And even if they're there cause they couldn't get into a 4 year school why would I look down on someone actively trying to better themselves? That's some real asshole shit

I dont really look down on anyone at all lol I went to community college, but I made the most out of it I think what helps is everything being around everywhere (New England) with no shortage of things for you to explore while youre learning

I couldnt tell a kid with a straight face that its not wise or prudent to go there because you literally save tons of cash and can still bounce to any school honestly theres certain things during that stage of your academic career that doesnt vary much if youre a student who applies themselves

I did go to one of the best structured ones so I think Im glad I wasnt out in like.. Ohio community college >_>

Nope! It's the smarter choice. Earn the credits from the classes no one cares about, and then transfer.

CC is also the smarter place to start because you don't waste nearly as much money if you decide college isn't for you.
