I was given a copy of the PS version which I am playing on my PS2. I am aware their are "better" updated versions but idk, I was given a free copy of this version and it's an excuse to boot up my PS2. I am definitely a casual when it comes to FF, the only one's I've played are 7, 7 Remake, and 14 which I wouldn't count anyway.

I know nothing about the game other than Kefka is the final boss with an awesome OST, Terra has an alternate demon form or something like that, and... that's about it. I just know that stuff from years of being on the internet.

I'm still early in the game, just made it to Mt. Kolts. It feels very similar in tone to the original FF7 which I enjoy. The game definitely seems ahead of its time.

I also have access to V by virtue of this Playstation copy that I have now. Is that worth playing in 2021 for the first time or should I skip to all the other ones people generally like better/talk about more? Like 9, 10, etc.

I should go.

PS1 version is the only uncensored version of the game but it's borderline unplayable with the load times

If you really want to play V and you for sure don't want to spend for a different version the PS version is ok. The translation is terrible and it can be glitchy when it comes to saving though.

FFVI is great. Will you be providing updates as you play through it?

FFV is good, but the storyline and characters of that game are very weak. The strengths of FFV come from the job system and finding new combinations of job classes to progress through the game.
