Not sure if it matters, but I am 33.

So,,, I joined the hype train and started FF14. I been watching videos on it and all that. I came across a video for "Overcoming Anxiety in group content"....

........

Humans are a social species.... yet we are at a point there has to be videos on overcoming anxiety for group content in a fake world.... where you play in your own house...

We have people who spend 1000s of dollars a year to have food delivered so they don't have to have to tell with the "Anxiety" of people at whatever place they are getting food from...

Guys, we as a species have seriously fucked up.

We are in an adjustment period. We used to be more animalistic, less educated, and spent a lot more time outdoors. We are becoming something else.

We arent exactly sure what well be at the end, but there are undoubtedly going to be speed bumps along the way.

Currently we are seeing a lot of pent up stress that would normally be directed towards the struggle to survive. But when we take that away and people have the kind of life where they dont have to struggle as much to stay alive, some of that instinctive stress response surfaces in other ways and can induce a lot of anxiety.

Additionally as people become more intelligent society changes as we recognize that some historic practices are plainly wrong and need to change, and many people gain the insight to recognize and cope with trauma that has happened to them rather simply react to it.

People will debate whether or not it is a good or bad thing, but I think that as a whole for better and for worse, our civilization and culture are becoming a lot more sensitive. Its okay for things to change.

People in online groups, where people act anonymously, are much more likely to act in a manner that they would not in person, lest they get a swift punch in the face.

FFXIV and MMORPGs are just a mystery to me. Never had issues playing with others, but I don't like to play with random people in organized group content that requires you to schedule when you do the organized group content.
And I've been playing MMORPGs for 20 years.

In PoE I am playing in a private league (although not in a party) where people just give away items to each other.
In STO I would always play with people from a specific discord.
The stuff I don't like is "party finders" or trading with random people in a large server (PoE's SC league) because it's extremely toxic.
I also don't do things like make Youtube videos because I don't want to get hacked/doxxed, because like you I'm in my 30s and have a life that could be negatively impacted by a little shit.

TBF, people in FFXIV will put up with a LOT of shit before they kick somebody. You have to be EXTREMELY bad to get a kick. So as long as you're willing to put in an effort, people will happily run anything with you.
