2nd amendment rights mean shit if you can be on your own property, minding your own business, legally possessing a firearm, and an officer shoots you 7 times after stating you are armed while standing on your own porch on your own property. That isn't freedom. Legal or not, it puts a firearm in your hands and all the pig has to say is "he had a gun" and 99% of the time they won't even get a suspension or face any disciplinary action.

Thank god this man survived after taking 7 bullets, even though HE now faces 3 assault charges.

Not stand on my front porch with a gun goading them into a shootout?

I also don't know the context that lead up to this but if the police showed up to my house and I didn't want to talk to them I'd probably just go in my house and tell them they can come back with a court order if they wanna talk with me.

Police statement

"The statement continued, We are extremely proud of the courage and compassion of our officers who first stopped a murderous attack and then applied immediate and successful life-saving measures to Williams. We look forward to seeing Charles Williams, Jr. in court when the full details of his attempt to kill Corinth police officers will be made known.

And exactly as I stated, the officers claimed he had a gun, which he did, secured to his hip, legally, and they opened fire because he had a gun and took one step off of his porch, again, with the firearm on his hip, which apparently was a "murderous attack" even though officers were at least 20+ feet away and he didn't have the weapon in his hand.

Sickening.

if someone just called you in as a reckless driver: police see you park in your driveway. Then youre immediately aggressive and then charge towards officers and they hit you with a beanbag. You then decide to pull out a gun and shoot officers. You are wrong.

If a guy shot a beanbag at a cop and the cop starred shooting. You guys would lose your mind. Doesnt mean a death sentence they have other tools

but because its the boogeymen. Only then is their death warranted because they used a beanbag on an aggressive charging subject

I know when I hear a gun go off in the night exactly what is striking me.

He thought he was just shot, he went into survival mode. Isn't that the point of the 2nd amendment, being able to protect yourself in a situation where your life is at risk? Cops are among the biggest criminals in a lot of cities, the man didn't want to die on the spot, like many, many before him have. If they are wearing a badge, you shouldn't just stand there and be executed.

Fuck these power hungry pigs. It didn't need to get nearly anywhere close to where it did.

You are excusing attempted murder of an innocent civilian in his own home that got shot at for yelling. Get the fuck out of here with this, people are going to eventually start standing up to these swine, enough people die by the hand of dirty cops and people are going to start fighting back and stop looking at them as people who protect the community, but terrorize the innocent senselessly.

As soon as he told them he was armed, they saw a bright opportunity to kill another black man, so they escalated the situation ten fold just to have an excuse to open fire.

Im done posting because obvious what you guys will choose to believe. Im sure the best outcome for you guys was for this violent person would be to start executing those cops in the middle of the street

bottom line

he was called In a reckless driver, police saw him, go in his house.

probable cause for a crime is established

reckless driving

he is immediately confrontational. Charged officers. Hit with a beanbag and then pulls out a gun.

Ive been hit with a beanbag. Its not quite the same as being shot with a gun believe it or not

he is wrong. Lawfully and morally.

Tomorrow i'm gonna go to the local police station and ask them to blindfold me, then shoot me with a bullet in one arm, and shoot me with a bean bag in the other, so I know in a tense situation in the dark what police are shooting me with.

What a dumb assed comment. Dur he should have felt the difference.

Got the cops called on him for reckless driving. Acts like an aggressive hot head and you can literally hear the cops tell him at :50 to put the gun down because he pulls it out of his waistband to maneuver it like a moron.

Tells them hes Not the one to mess with. Then aggressively starts walking towards an officer for stepping on his lawn.

Yeah 10/10 times your getting shot in that situation. Once you start brandishing a firearm and acting aggressive youre not gonna get the benefit of the doubt. Youd be a fucking moron to just let a guy like that approach you.

If he didnt have a firearm this would be a totally different story, but once he starts showing off his gun he dug his own hole.

If someone calls the police on you, justified or not, do you have the right to tell the police to fuck off? Unless they were just making it up as a means of harassing the guy, which I assume should be on record if it's real, seems like they should be in their rights to question him. Unless he has a really bad anger issue, he definitely seems like he could be drunk. Though I feel like the police should have backed off to deescalate the situation.

I just have a sidebar question: how do you see your stance interacting with the 2A and especially the defend your castle doctrine?

theorerically if you see someone inside your home you can shoot. And the whole lets sit down and drink tea and find out why you are here thing doesnt really translate into the real world. Itd basically mean you came never protect your home (what if its an undercover cop? What if its someone with the right to be there? Etc)

this is an interesting academic discussion, I got no interest in getting mad at you or anything, I just like what-if conversations

They still shouldn't have shot him.

What this guy did was stupid, but he was on his property and didn't break the law. If he'd upholstered his weapon and began walking towards them, sure. But he didn't. Shooting him, even with a bean bag, just escalated this to life or death. Luckily no one was killed.

You're not obligated to help them with their investigation or let them onto your property without a court issued warrant.

Now standing on your front porch with a gun and screaming at them really aggressively is a very stupid way to exercise that right, but still.

I didn't say that, pandoras out of the box at that point. I'm saying it was a really bad decision to shoot him in the first place, even if it was a non lethal round. That's called escalating the situation, which should be the last thing they want to do with an irate man who's armed.
