Not likely, if an entire generation doesn't save for retirement, the government will just do something about that in 20-30 years that will make our lives easier while making us happy that we spent our money the way we wanted to rather than saving it for canned tuna once we're too old to work for canned tuna ourselves.

How am I supposed to do that when I can't even afford the expenses I have? I don't drink, smoke, or use any illicit substances. I have had to basically stop all hobbys. All my money gets pored into my monthly expenses and somehow I'm still hungry, can't afford new clothes, glasses, or Healthcare. How can I set aside even more money and get by?

learn how money really works would be a good start

I personally started playing poker with a free promotion in 2006 and worked my way up never depositing money and just using good bankroll management and made more money than I thought possible quite quickly, I'm guessing there are tons of opportunity like that online, you've seen people go from broke to millionaires streaming too, people have done it in crypto as well, some people have done it investing in businesses and the stock market (might need more initial capital for these) otherwise get good at something and monetize it

this is capitalism and it sucks but that's the lesser evil, everyone's getting fucked in the ass by inflation (lockdowns accelerated that massively) but all you can do is try and stay ahead of the game

My assumption, and you can correct me if I am wrong, is that even without all of that, you are still living above your means.

Can't afford rent? Rent a smaller place. Look into renting just a room.

85% of most people's financial hardships stem from them living above their means.

People love to whine on this board about wages and how everything should be free. I wish I knew which CEmen are just mooching off their parents in the basement and which ones are just clueless, working McDonalds jobs after racking up tons of student loan debt. I have contempt for the former, and sympathy for the latter.

Here's a tip for people complaining about not being able to work. Start driving. I know people who drive trucks and make a great living with no college degree or prior work experience. I also know people who drive for courier services as a side gig. One of my buddies at work just told me how he's getting $900 this weekend just to deliver a compressor part to some poultry plant in Houston.

They need to seek out a higher paying job. Working below minimum wage for many years will bite them in the future because they will not be able to budget and save for retirement. Better start before its too late or else you will work until you die.

There's a ton of missing context here lol

It sounds like you're unwilling to admit that some people might be in situations where they have to live paycheck to paycheck and not because they're subscribed to Netflix and Disney Plus every month.

Well, it really wasnt until then where people lived past what the current retirement age is now.

Back then, people were working till they were 60, and dying at 65.

Now people retire at 65 and live to 80+.
